1ir. Gag].a.ardi, representing rlr. Garbas of Worton Park, asked if
something could not be done to enlarge the waterway in Worton Park, so that
it would not flood Mr. Garbas' basement. Ivlra Gagliardi said that the culvert
under Wor-r,on Park Drive was too sma119 that it was smaller than that urx3.er
North Woodlane and; if enlarged, wcsuld' he thought, prevent this flooding.
He said tlia 'U, si:nce the road was to b e repaved, he thaught this wauld be the
proper time to do the job. It was estimated that a change in culvert size
woul.d c os t ove r$l' 000.000
Mayor Endress then said that the water was not onZy flooding over
the roads in this area, but over all the roads in the village, and went on -to
enumerate other sections of our village in just such a critical sita.ation9
msntioning specifically, the lower SOM and ZnTil.son Mi11s area. Mr. Gagliard.i
said that he thought that a lawsuit might lie with the people who had
developed the Worton Park area because of the mariy changes in the course o£
a natural waterway.
- Mayor Endress then asked for permi_ssion to have our engineer make a
su,rvey and come up with some kind of an idea -on where we stood in the matter.
It was pointed out at this time that the Pease Engi.neering Company had made
jus t such a survey and it was this -basis -that had - led Council to put a large
bond issue on the balloto It was suggest,ed,that Nr. Peterson try and get
this survey from Pease before going further with a survey. TZayor Endress
again spoke of all the different people in our Vi17.age having water troubles
and, due to this, he would not recommend passing a consent ordin, ance for the
North South Turnpike un-til plans were made that shoyred what they were going
to do with water from the Freeway. Mayor Endress said that, due to our
camplain•ts, the s-tate had been making surveys in lower S0Yi and had cleaned
out some of the di-f,ches and removed rocks that were hindering the water f1ow.
a Mayor Endress reported that last week he Yiad seen County Sanitaxy
Engineer Puzinski- and that he had part of the Ridgebury storm sewer listed as
inadequate; that the County was also going to buil:d a storm sewer down SOM
to ? to the, river, the lines to be run North and. South into a
natural water course near the High School. Mayor Erxiress then suggested to
them that they make a survey and f?ive us an arbswer to the consideration of
a County.Storm SetpTer datim Ridgebury, with no breaks in our Village. This
would take the water away before it got into the villageo
Mayor Endress said that Nayiield-Heights had had a meeting with
Council on paving of Ridgebury; that he did not lmow their decision, but
felt that the CounV would not consider a cemen-t paving; that they wished
macadam pavi.ng on a scarified base; as.the County felt.that in'the next 15
years Ridgebury would be considered for permanent'improvement and the County
could not see putting in a cement paving. Mayor Endress said that nothing
zaould be done this year, however.
NIr. Nickerson, representing a g.roup from Glenview, said that he had
heard that Council was going ahead with the repaving of Glenvieti? and the
people did not like this, as they had had no say in the matter. Mayor End.ress
pointed out that nothing had been done, that Council had merely asked for
an estimate of cost and that all the people would be notified before any
5s
