M"r.. Shaw said that he was concerned with the.amount.of our bills at a
time when we were short of money and wondered if we could not change the purchase
procedure, Mre Shaw said that he thought a semi-annual budget might help and would
like one from the Police Department, the Service Department and the Fire Department
for the nest aix months. Mr. Shaw said that we were__running close on the new
building and aslced Mr. I3ennett for an estimate of the cost for completione Mr.
Shaw then discussed with Council the problem of tne neva f ire truck and said that
he was af•raid to have it on the next ballot and endanger our operat.ing levy which
was up for renewal. P7r. Shaw said that there would :be.:a bit of chaos if t-he levy
did not pass.
The C1erk then read two bids recei_ved for the collection of rubbish. It
was Council's recommendation that the Clerk hold up these two bids f or a month
until someone could see Mr.• Quigley. and have h.is bi,d interpreted,
The Mayor then talked to Council about sidewallcs on Ridgebury; that the
school had contacted the other. two vil'lages and they were going to put in siclewalks.
Mayor Endress.said that we should go along with them.. I-t was felt that Council
should wait until the rest of the Villages got their sidewalks in.
The Iyiayor then read a letter to Mayor Brennan of Highland Heights from
t7ayfield-Heights, with a copy to us, recommendin.g.that we three go along on the
ins`tallation of a traffic light at Ridgebury and Lander Roads. There was no
estimate or any idda of the cost. Council also suggested that sidewalks be
installed on Lander at the same time:;as the road is paved and one:assessment
made and recommended that Mr. Edelman contact Mr. Porter stating that we 1vant
• sidewall;s on the Village side. Mr. Peterson spoke of -the storm sewer and said
that it was adequate to take care of the road, but was high and we should see
that the contractor tied in all drains; that he believes the sewer is so high
that if footer drains are put into it the people will have to keep their sump pumps.
The reason this is so high is that it comes up and goes into the Wilson Mills Sewer.
It was then moved by Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Sloan, i:hat our Engineer be directed
to have the County Engineer inclucie sidewalks,on the paving of Lander Road and give
us an estima-te of the cost. -
P.oll Call; Ayes - Messrs Shaw, Bennett, Walker, Mason, S1oan & Belzer.
Nays - None.
- Motion carried
Mr. Nlason, seconded by Mr. Shaw, then introduced Ordinan.ce No. £397, entitled:
"An Emergency Ordinance Prohibiting the Cutting of any Pavement Along Lander Road
f or the Purpose o£-Tnstallirig Water or Sewer Connections for a period of Five
Years After Coripletion of the Pavement", which ordinance.was read to Council.
It-was moved by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr,: Bennett, -that the rules of 1aw,
requiring an ordinance to be read on three se_parate occasions be suspended.
R011 Call: Ayes - Messrs S1iaw, Bennei:t,Wallcer, Mason, S1oan & Belzer.
Nays - None. .
. T4otion carried
. Rules Susgended
5.
