Mr. William Russell of_6768 Wilson Mills Road stated that there are more homes <br />on the North side of Wilson Mills Road and also more developments there rather <br />than on the South side. Mr. Weiss said that it would be more economical at this <br />time to place the sidewalks on the South side. <br />Mr. Russell asked Mr. Weiss about widening of Wilson Mills Road. Mr. <br />Weiss answered that there are no plans for at least 5 years f or paving this area. <br />Mr. Russell questioned the purpose of the 40% assessment on the North side <br />and the 607. on the South side of Wilson Mills Road f or sidewalks. He also questioned <br />sharing of costs for maintenance. <br />Mr. Mason explained that when the North side of Wilson Mills gets side- <br />walks,that„the owners will then share the opposite percentages. <br />Mr. Krebs then announced to Council a reversal of his opinion in view <br />of comments made by the Mayor and Council and complimented the Mayor and Council's <br />action and stated that he would accept the sidewalks willingly. Mr. Russell <br />also agreed with Mr. Krebsand stated that the sidewalks would keep some of the <br />costs of the school system down. <br />Mr. Ballash ,que`stioned the safety of putting sidewalks on only. one side. <br />Mr. Mason explained that both sides should eventually have sidewalks. <br />Mr. Joseph Onacila questioned Mayor Bennett about the c=leaning and general <br />maintenance of the sidewallcs and the Mayor explained that we would like to do <br />all we can in service but are limited by money and equipment. It was further <br />explained that the Village picks up the cost of paving intersections plus 2% <br />of the to,tal cost of the sidewalks. Mayor Bennett stated that the sidewalks wi11 <br />be entirely a Village project 'and that no individual would install the sidewalk <br />himself. <br />Mr. Weiss again read the estimated cost of the sidewalks oti Wilson Mills <br />which were read at the last Council meeting. <br />Mr. Weiss stated that the maintenance bond was to termit?ate on June 12, <br />1966. An inspection has been made on the West side of S.O.M. Center Road f rom <br />Highland Road to White Road and it was f ound that there is nothing in need of <br />repair. Mr. Weiss asked that if anyone knew of anything to be repaired, to <br />please let him know. Mayor Bennett cited the problem of water running into the <br />road at 420 S.O.M. and at 3.86 S.O.M. caused by poor grading and improper ditching <br />and that the bond should not be released until everything is corrected.. The <br />Mayor wanted to be contacted bef ore the bond is released. <br />Mayor Bennett inf ormed Council that he had talked to Nir. Charlas Shannon, • <br />President of the School Board, regarding the air conditioning tower at the rear <br />of the high school and that Mr. Shannon had given him the f ollowing inf ormation: <br />The School Board will, at a cost of approximately $13,000.00 construct an 8" <br />Block wall, 30 feet long and 25 feet high running North and South with 15 f oot <br />wings on each end. They will paint the wall a color to match the surrounding <br />terrain and will landscape the area so as to look presentable to the people . <br />living in the area.
