Mr. Godf rey: Why adjust to today : .
Nlayor Bennett: Mr. Mason has the floor. ..
Mr. Masone Do we face up to the realization that not just school
childred are using the sidewalks. Lander, RidgeUury, and Wilson Mills West
had a question as to this. Today, many are using them. Mr. Russell, f ormer
president of the school board, came to the meeting with questions and went
away in favor. ?
Mre Fitz-Gerald: Who would use the sidewalks-between Hanover and-Beech
Hill. Can you stop at Beech Hi11? •- Chief Shortle: The last survey that we made was between 2:30 and 4:00,
at 6694 Wilson biills Road. The count was 28 pedestrians. Farther East it
will diminish. ' Mr. Reich: MAy I appeal to your sense of beauty. Try to maintain
what beauty is left, by using a winding blacktop like Bratenahl,
Mayor Bennett: Would you want the.Village to pay for it?
Mr. Reich: I had not given it much thought.
Mr. Godf rey: Wants no sidewaltcs on either side, black or white.
Mr. Weiss: The maintenance on• blacictop? i-s-quite costly, Itt concrete,
some cutting does have to be done.
Mr. Michallco : 6852 Wilson Mills Rd. I f or one moved becau'se it is a
community of nice homes. I thought we would never have sidewalks or? street
lights. Too much concrete as-it is.. -Why not go aroun.d the trees. Has
charge of the trees in Cleveland•. We are promoting beauty. We need safety.
More though on how to get them up to SOM. Have yet to see any kids walking
in front of his place? Very doubtful if Wilson Mills is widened fu-rther
than 700 feet from SOM.
Nlr. Reich: Do the Engineers have any personal reasons for having sidewalks?
Mr. Mason. I rather resent anybody who does not want to live in a one
horse village. Progress is good f or downtown.
NIr. Niasont I said we have no choice.
Mayor Bennett: You mention these beautif ul trees. I lived here when
there was only six houses. I lilce a village too. People moving in-have
brought progress. We have thought about all this f or f our years.
Mr. Reich: That's-why we tiave retained Mr: Shillman. - Mayor Bennett: You cannot beat it, just tie it up. I hate to see these
people give out money f or legal action. I
Mre Shillman: I would be curious to know what r1r. Edelman thinks.
. .avR
