' . <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Shaw, Busa, Walker, Mason, Sloan & Davis. <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion carried <br />Ordinance Passed <br />Mayor Bennett welcomed seven young ladies who were observing a Council <br />Meeting as a class project. <br />Mr. Edelman read the second reading of Resolution #689 approving the <br />report of the Equalization Board f or the Wilson Mills Sidewalk. Mrm Edelman also r.ead psoposed Ordinance #969 to proceed;with the Wilson <br />Mills Sidewalk improvement f or the second time. <br />A number of residents f rom the North and South side of Wilson Mills Road <br />East of SOM Center Road, were present. Mayor Bennett gave them an opportunity <br />to:ask questions concerning the proposed sidewalks. <br />Mr. Shillman; Eounsel f or the group, wants to speak just bef ore council <br />votes. <br />Mr. Perkins, 6855 Wilson Mills Road: He and Mrs. Perkins are opposed <br />to the sidewalks, because-:.we do not need them and on account of future <br />widening s do not want to pay for them twice. :'We, feel it is a project <br />thatt:should be assessed against the entire village. <br />Mayor Bennett: If the County widens Wilson Mills, you will not be <br />assessed twice. The County is responsible for what they remove, that is <br />already there. <br />Mro Perkins: Do the property owners pay for the widening of wilson <br />Mills? <br />Mr. Weiss: A certain percentage. <br />Mrs. Beckman: If it is a safety measure for the children, they will be <br />injured crossing the street. Very few peop].e wallc past her place. <br />- - <br />Mr. Slo'an: Thought it would be less dangerous than walking along the <br />road. , <br />Mrs. Beckman: Both sides will eventually have sidewalks, why not now? <br />Mayor Bennett: GJould you be willing to pay f or both sides now? <br />8.
