pick up the Thornapple pumping Stations. To pick np the area around the gnlly,
the sewer would.go above ground and would go from Wilson Mi11s to Thornapple
attd.over to the pumping stations. The sewer was f irst plaaned to go from
Wilson Mills Road all along SOM Road but that would leave some of the Village "
unserviced. The sewer would be about 11 feet deep at Metro Park Drive. From
the Park property North, the sewer would be contained in a 24 inch erock. •.
Mr. DeMore said that, as Ear as assessments were concerned, Hill Top No. 2
would be handled exactly as'Ai11-Top No. 1.
Mayor Endress then told Mre DeMore that we were haviag meetgngs with the
Planning and Zoning Commission to do away with Midvale and did not want any part
of a sewer on this road and asked that some other route be considered, as Midvale
should not be a residenfiial street, because of the small lots.
Mr. DeMore said that the area between.Fisher's and SOM would not be
constructed Eor a time, and that it would depend upon.how fast this area
developed. Although Mr. Westmoreland said that this sewer was big enotigh to
take care of all our needs, it was questioned by Council as according to County
Standards Hill Top No. 1 did not prove out that way. _
This discussion with the County representatives brought up a touchy
subject, "The Odors coming from the pumping station on Beech Hill Road.*" Mr.
Belzer again remarked that they had not been corrected. Mr. Westmoreland said
that it was caused by Saaitary and Storm water being mixed in the Storm Sewer,
and was local in nature; that this could be eliminated by extra chlorination
at the station::.
Mr. Belzer brought ont, however, that it was his.opinion that it was
coming from the low staek and nothing would be corrected until this stack was
raised. The county man said they might make a study to see what could be done.
Mr. Peterson said-'that he had talked with Mr. Puzinski about the matter and Mr.
Puzinski said that chlorination would take care of the matter. Mr. Peterson
said that he was of the opinion, however, that the station should have a
higher stack. • .
Mayor Endre'ss said that after hearing of the plans f or Hill Top No. 2,
if Midvale could be eliminated, the rest looked all right to him,
Mr. Wedler, seconded by Mr. Zorn, then introduced a resolution that
Council disapproves the proposed preferred alignment in Midvale Avenue on the
sewer improvement p1an,No. 3-5; that.the County is asked to stndp the area for
another location.
It was moved by Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Belzer;ithat the rules of law'
requiring a resolution to be read on three separate,;occasiotis be suspended.
Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Zorn,Wedler, Bennett, Mason,Sloan & Belzer.
Nays - None. :
Nlotion earried. -
Rules Suspended.
2.
