Mr. Peterson, being asked about this said
that he-did,;not measure.acry .pipe, but as there was a slope.from the manhole
to the gnlley,. it: was his belief that this pipe uras large enough even though
smaller than the pipe coming into the manhole; that the, difficulty developed
because this smaller pipe was blocked; that there were boulders, timbers
and debris blocking the, pipe;. that he. eotild not.condemn the; size of the
pipe nnder these conditions. Mr. Wieland said that one of the manholes would
have to. ,be- rebuilt.. " - There was a great deal of diseussion of this matter and Robley IAne
in Council. PRost of,the conversatioa was_geared to the fact that we.did.:not
know what Engineer.had f inally okayed. this. sewer .and the Village-had no, plans ,
no speeifications nor anp information,on the matter. Mr. Peterso.n.again-
reiterated that with the line cleaned ont, he thought that no more di.fficulty
would -be enconntered.. Mayor.. Endress.. said..that if. -he_ lived on Robley Lane'
: and had gone through'this, tliat even with the pipe cleaned oute he wonld taonder
if he was safe; tkiaf this is_ the: first. time: tha't:.this has beeome so serious,
but it has happened in spots before. Mr. John Kel.ly_:of Robley Lane then:..
thanked the Fire Departmeat for taking care;of the street in this emergeney:
Mr. Busiek f rom Metro Park Drive reported that between several of
them thep had a thousand dollars of damage from the rain. He said he_thought
it was caused by the neighbors'putting downspvuts in the drain. He said that
there was so-.mueh pressnre that the water was pushing up through the eenter
wall of his basement. Maqor Endress asked Mr. Wielaad to check on the, drains
on this street.arid asked Mr. Bdelman to check the.or.dinances on this matter.
Mr. Wedler, seconded by Mr. Mason, then moved..that o.ur Engineer, b.e authorized
to check this street with Mr. Wielande
5.
