Mr. De Harvey was present and talked with Council about the change-over
of the Fire Department Radio f requencies. Mr. De Harvey was asked if he was
at present dealing with other Villages and he said he was; that he has been
the service organization f or all these people. Mre De Harvey said that his
objective was to outline f or Council what these changes were going to be and
said that he was involved with all the touching communities. Mr. De Harvey
said that there was little or no discussion on mutual combinations and it
looked as though each community wished to go it alone; that Gates Mills did
not even have radio equipment now and did not plan to have:atty.; Mr. Mason
asked what other alternatives were possible and whether other villages could
go in togetherm Mr. De Ilarvey said that sharing the cost would:be the main
thing and this had not been discussed and he could not say at this time. That
there was no such system as University Heights that could be shared by othersm
Mr. De Harvey went into this plan in detail and said that it certainly would
reduce costs if such a.system could be worked outm It was brought out that
Mr. Porter was attending a meeting at Lyndhurst to get the feeling of other
communities as to this system. Mr. De Harvey said that the dividing line
for this would be Cedar Road; that this line was set by a research group;
however, the radio signals could go fnrther but would be on a different
f requency and would not interfere with traffic; that on the North side would
be one frequency and on the South side another frequency and none of the b'ig .
stations are interested in taking on any other community. Mrm De Harvey •j
said that we could lease the system and it would run a little less than $70.00
per month. The question of-portable radios was brought up and Mr. De Harvey
said that he would not-recommend such a systemm There would be f rom 60 to
90 days deYivery on this equipment after order. Mre Edelman was then asked
to check with Highland Heights to see if they would go in with us on this
matter,, Mr. De Harvey was then asked to give us the figures on a lease basis.
He was also asked if any larger cities were likely to come in on this and he
said that it could beo . .
Mayor Endress then said that it would be a good idea if NIr. Bennett
went to the meeting in Lyndhurst along with Mr. Porter.
Mrm Belzer"-was then asked what he was going to do about a National Fire
Code and he said that Mr. Edelmari had the Fire Code Ordinance and the Ordinance
from Highland Heights, Mra Shaw, seconded by Mr. Belzer, then introduced
Ordinance No. 788, entitled; °'An Ordinance Adopting A Fire Prevention Code,
Prescribing Regulations Governing Conditions Hazardous to Zif e and Property
From Fire or Explosion, and Establishing A Bureau of Fire Prevention and
Providing Officers Theref or and Def ining Their Powers and Duties ", which
ordinance was read to Council. This ordinance was then placed 'upon its first
reading. .
Mr. Mason, reporting f or the Finance Committee, then discussed a report
f or the budget. Mr. Mason reported that he had found the Pay Ordinance to
be in order and it was.then moved by Mra Mason, seconded by Mre Wedler, that
Ordinance No. 474-P be approved and passed as read.
2.
