Mr. Sloan said that there seemed to be a great.deal of mystery as to
how this water was getting into the sewer and•asked if there was any possibility
of some of it coming from S.O.M. Roado Mr. Peterson said that he could get the
plans from the Courity of the Septic Tanics and see what could be:done.
Mayor Endress said that he was confused by the talk of water in the
road ditch and how it could back up in the sewers. He asked where it was
coming from and wanted to know,if it was going into the ditch or into the sewer.
Mayor Endress was speaking of the storm water which every one claims was backing
up in the sewer. Mr. Wedler asked if this was a home owner°s problem or a
village problem. Mr. Peterson said that he thought it was a home owner's
problem and that they think ites a-village problem. Mr. Shaw suggested:that
we might conduct some tests and if it"s their problem, they pay and if it4s ours,
we pay. Mr. Belzer said that, if this did not happen until October, and another
house had been built after that, this new construction might be blocking the
sewer. There iaas a great deal of discussion on this problem and the Metro
people asked Mr. Pete'rson to come out Saturday- and walk the ditch with them
and see if they could get some ideas and come back with them to the next Council
P7eeting. Mr. Pet erson said that he would call Mr. Busick and arrange a date.
Mr..Peterson then gave Council the plans, prof iles and estimates of cost
for the S.O.M. Water line approved by the City of Cleveland; these plans were
complete and ready f or the taking of bids. Mr. Peterson said that the hydrants
would not have to be moved at the widening of SOM Road. Mr. Peterson said that
the hydrants were placed as far back as possible, but should go back farther,
but the Village would need easements. Mr. Mason asked Mr. Peterson to write
the State and get a conf irmation of our plans to save some future headaches.
Mr.' Peterson said that he could not go back much farther or we could not get
a pumper.near the hydrants; that he send a copy of the plans to the State and see
if it met with their approval. The total estimate of this improvement was
$91,368.00, the Village share being $25,540.90.
There was a great deal of discussion in Council aboat using up all our
avail-able £unds for this_main, as we would then be without funds and'have to
ask f or another levy. ' Mr. Wedler, seconded by Mr. Belzer, then introduced Resolution No. 559
entitled: "A Resolution Declaring it Necessary fio Improve SOM Center.Road ia
the Villa,ge of Mayf ield, Ohio, from the End of the Existing Water Main Which
Terminates 1528 Feet North of the Center Line of hletro Park Drive, in a
Northerly Direction to the North Corporation Zine of the Village of Mayfield
by the Construction of a Water.Main and Appurtenances", which resolution was
read to Council, ' It was moved by Mr. Mason, seconded by Mrm Sloan, that the rules of law
requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions be suspended.
Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Wedler,.Bennett, Shaw, Mason, Sloan & Belzer.
Nays - None. -
Motion carried
' Rules Sus.pended
3.
