Mr. Bennett reported
nothing for the Building Comitteea -
Mr. Mason, reporting f or the Architectural Board, read the Minutes
of the June 27, 1963, meeting approving plans for three stractures. There
was no Architectural meeting in July.
Mr. Sloan, reporting f or the Cemetery Committee, said that the
sidewalks and drains were in at the Cemetery and everything was clear. Mr.
Sloan said that they had done everything possible to take care of the free
water that was running into the roadm
Mr< Belzer, reporting for the Safety and Service Committee, said
that they had met on July 1, 1963, and discussed with Chief Shortle the
installation of neco traff ic lights at SOM and Wilson Mills Road. For
safety and traffic control A1r. Shortle thought the Auto Clugs idea of moving
the traff ic,lights back was a good safety measure for the corner. Mr.
Shortle was asked to get costs and present them for the next meeting of the
Safety Committee. Mr. Shortly also asked for a porta power tool to carry
in the Ambulance, which could be used by the Fire and Police Departments.
The Committee recounnended tha't this be purchased for around $150.00. Mayor
Endress reminded Council that Mr. Porter had put this in his budget as one
item he thought was needed by the Fire Department and that the Police, not
being conscious of this f act, came up with the matter themselves. There
was quite a bit of discussion in Council as to who would have control of this
unit. It was thogght, however, that, as the Ambulance would be the f irst on
the Freeway in an accident, it should be carried by the police in the ambnlance,
as they had also made a rule that any accidept on the Freeway would be answered
with the Ambulance, as an accident here would be serious. It was then moved
by Mr. Belzer, seconded by Mr. Mason, that this item be purchased.
1.
