Mayor Endress then said that if a man did not have <br />ability, what good was he o`n the Board; that he had presented =a matt last month <br />who was capable of doing the job; that he had worked with him f or 8 years on <br />the Planning and Zoning Board and that he was willing to give him up f or this <br />man. Mr. Bennett then remarked that 6 years is a long time for an appointment. <br />Mr. Edelman said that these 6 years are set by law and nothing can be done <br />about it. Mr. Sloan then asked about absenteeism and asked what could be done <br />in'this case. Mro Edelman said there were no provisions for a member• absenting <br />himself from `meetings. <br />Tt was then moved by Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Walker, that this appoint- <br />ment be confirmed. Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Shaw,Walker,Mason,Sloan and Belzer. <br />Nays - Mr. Bennett. <br />- Motion carried <br />Appoin-tment conf irmed <br />Mayor Endress then thaniced Council? f or approval of this= appointment. <br />Mr. Sloan said that on the question of water on Ridgebury Boulevard, he <br />would like to have the authority to go out and check and 'see what could be <br />done; that he would like to call on the people and see what they wanted. He <br />said that the Highland' Heights'people tie in on.Mayfield Heights. Mr. Sloan <br />said that he was bringing this up because ttie"corner on our side had the Fire <br />Hydrants. Mr. Peterson said that one side of Ridgebury was in one water <br />district and the other side in an other; that the water depar-tinent had agreed <br />to extend the third high district to include a11 the lots on Ridgebury facing <br />Mayfield Heights. Mr. Sloan asked why all the residents could not tie in as <br />Mr. Rogers had and Mr. Peterson said that they had not tried; that it would be <br />very expensive to put a line on one side of the street and finance it; that it was <br />solid rock up there and that he did not believe they could afford"it. Mr. Sloan <br />thett wattted to know who they would see to get what the others had. Mr. Peterson <br />said Mr. Turkel, the Commissioner of Utilities Engineerittg, and that he did not <br />know if he had"the answer; but if the residents wanted him to.he would be glad <br />to set up a meeting with.the man. Mr. Sloan said that when the road was paved <br />this would be a closed issue and there would be no more tie-ins. <br />Mr. Mason said that from time to time our Minutes from the committees <br />would serve a useful purpose if they could be put up on a bulletin board so <br />that people could see them; that perhaps Mr. Wieland could make such a board. <br />Mr. Bennett then remarked that it was a year ago that our Civil Defense <br />man was aslced to work out some way that we could get some of the government <br />surplus that was being secured by other munitipalities. Mayor Endress said <br />that he would try and get him out to a safety meeting and we could talk <br />things over with him. <br /> <br /> <br />Nir. Belzer then remarked that he was bothered by residents all the time <br />asking what could be done about the gas station on the corner of Seneca and <br />SCM Road. Mr. Edelman said that he would check it out and spoke of it being <br />screened by a fence. Mr. Belzer said that not a week goes by that someone does ,._. <br />not blow off to him. 6. <br />
