~~~ <br />-2- <br />A nightime schedule has been made up for employees in the Service <br />Department for road maintenance. Mayor Leech stated this schedule <br />was used last year and worked out very successfully. <br />Mayor Leech reported that he received notification from the County <br />Board of Health that everyone should use extreme caution in purch- <br />asing toys for children during the holiday season. He also sugges- <br />ted to be careful with fireplaces, candles and home decorations. <br />The Mayor advised that a letter was mailed to Beech Hill residents <br />concerning paving, along with a petition. The purpose of this <br />petition was to give Council input for priority items in 1976. <br />Mayor Leech brought to the attention of Council the "Sunshine Law" <br />which went into effect November 28, 1975. A notice of all meetings <br />(which are open to the public) must be posted or advertised in the <br />Sun Papers. Anyone wishing copies of the agenda or meeting notices <br />must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. <br />The Mayor reported that due to the change of entertainment at the <br />Holiday Inn, it is being watched very closely and off-duty police- <br />men have been assigned to keep things under control. <br />The building behind the Fire Department is nearing completion. <br />Mayor Leech stated that this building is being built by employees <br />of the Service and Fire Departments. It is not a safety building <br />but will be used for storing salt and to house two trucks. <br />Mayor Leech advised Council of a letter received from the Cuyahoga <br />County Board of Commissioners for participation in the Community <br />Development Block Grant Program. Council will determine if inter- <br />ested in committing Mayfield Village to certain policies. <br />Mayor Leech advised he had written to RTA requesting bus service on <br />Beta Drive. RTA replied that a survey was taken and there were not <br />enough passengers to constitute bus service. <br />MARL organization had returned the 1975 $100 dues fee to. the Village <br />with. hopes of Mayfield Village participating next year. Mayor <br />Leech has asked the Finance Director and the new Mayor to consider <br />same. <br />Council President's Comments: <br />Mr. Prager advised that a special meeting will be held on <br />Thursday, December 18th to consider passage of ordinances placed <br />on first reading tonight. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Ordinance 74-42, entitled; "AUXILIARY POLICE RULES"..: Mr. Relic <br />stated that the rules should be implemented by January 1, 1976. <br />All payments for the Auxiliary Police would be made through the <br />Village, to cover Workman's Compensation, false arrest insurance, <br />etc. <br />
