Robert Barclay,
Feb. 16, 1976
Mr. President, I would like to make a few comments regarding the
Mayer°s newspaper.
The r~eeting last Tuesday with Mrs. I~Tegrelli and Mayor Beebe was
mostly about paper^ lay-out, hy-lines, pictures, method of deliverly,
~cost;s •~.nd writers. Very little was discussed regarding funding of
this paper. I think this paper will cost at least ~ 2,000.00 annuallyo
Mr. President, I am totally and completely against the Village paying
far any costs of this paper. I would much rather see THAT money used
in the Service Department and for MORE Police and Fire protection,
Mr. President, I think with our new open meeting policy, otherwise
knotian as the SUN ,SHINE LAW that interested Villagers need only attend
some meetings to become fully aware of whats going onp I also feel
very strongly that this paper would only tend to glorify the
administration and certain other individualatl Mr. President, I feel
the funding of this paper should be decided by the entire Council and
not by dust two (2) members of C'ouncal and the Mayor. Mr. President,
I feel so strongly against this unnecessary and POSSIBLY ILLEGAL
waste of tax payers money that I, as Chairman of the Finance Committee
will not recommend for' payment arty and all invoices received by this
Village regarding this paper® Mr. President, I WILL NOT INTRODUCE or
VOTE FOR ANY PAY ORDTANCE that shows any payment for this paper.
Mr. President, I sincerely hope that you and others will not refer to
my remarks as threats, so please believe me when I say,
TN.uY~.RE RIOT THREATS. ONLY FACTS. Mr. President, at this time if there
are no other comments on this matter I would like to request that you
cause a roll call vote be taken to determine if the Village shall pay
far- this papero Thankyou /~
~V-
Please record this statemer_t Alan G. Bennett
in the G.ouncil minutes this date.
