~~~
A~IINUTES OF REGULAR r1EETING
Village of Mayfield Village
August 16, 1976
The Council of the Village of Mayfield Village met in regular session
on Monday, August 16, 1976 at 8:00 P.I~I. in the Village Hall. Council
President, Robert Barclay presided.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Roll Call: Present: Messrs., Barclay, Bordonaro, Busa, Flynn,
and Schulte
Absent Messrs., Bennett and Grogan
Also present were Mayor Beebe, Messrs., Amendola, Byrnes,
Hovancsek, Relic and Chief Hejcl
Mr. Barclay opened the meeting by asking for comments from the floor:
Joseph Sztul, 6285 Ridgebury Blvd., asked what is Council doing re-
garding the empty lot on Ridgebury Blvd. It has become a health
and safety hazard for youngsters playing in the area. He said the
area residents sent a letter to Action Line-Cleveland Press along with
a petition. He did say that the Mayor had sent a letter in response
to the residents advising of the circumstances. However, no solution
to the problem has been made.
Mayor Beebe replied that although the Village is sympathetic there is
nothing they can do at the present time since it is private property,
and that it wouldn't be fair to Village taxpayers to clean up private
property. The County has been questioned as to who the correct owners
are - taxes have been delinquent for several years. Property should
be up for sheriffs sale in the near future.
Mr. Amendola stated that-the Village has cut down the weeds and will
spray the stagnant water.
Mr. Byrnes stated that according the law, the Village cannot use
public funds to be spent on private property.
Darlene Ariemma - 5291 Ridgebury Blvd. asked Council what-would you
do if you lived next door to this property? She also asked if some-
thing dangerous happened to one of the children playing, who would
be responsible and at that time would something be done?
Mr. Byrnes replied that the Village would not be liable if someone
got hur on this private property.
Mayor Beebe advised that the Village is doing all they can and is
iJOrking ~~aith the County to try and solve the problem.
