Nuggent said the reason for his questions was that he believes <br />we have 2~. times the number of police as surrounding larger communities. <br />There has been a severe vandalism problem on b~Tilson Nills after dark <br />and he never sees police patrolling. He suggest the police be taken <br />off I-271 and-put them on Wilson Mi11s. <br />Mayor Beebe replied that since Chief Shortle ~~as not present, he would <br />try to answer the questions to the best of his knowledge. The Mayor <br />said that the Village has a 12 man force plus the Chief and that two <br />men patrol the streets day and night, with time alloted for sickness, <br />vacations, holidays, schooling etc. and the senior officer controls <br />the shift. The Village is responsible for patrolling 3-3/4' miles of <br />I-271. Civil Service Commission handles the search for new policemen <br />and rigorous testing is required by State Law and they have done a <br />fine job in selecting police for the Village. <br />Ron Sobel - 837 Beech Hill, as]ced if the decision of the Assessment <br />Equalization Board is final? <br />Mr. Barclay replied that this would be discussed under New Business. <br />There being no further comments, that portion of the meeting <br />concluded. <br />Mr. Schulte, seconded by RZz'. Imbordino to the <br />Volunteer Fire Department as recommended by Chief Iiejcl. <br />Mr. Imbordino was sworn in by b1r. Byrnes. <br />
