~1 <br />-3- <br />He also advised that Progressive Insurance has decided to look for <br />other means of increasing their parking area rather than cutting <br />down several trees. <br />Mayor Beebe wished to thank the Garden Club for their donation~sof <br />$200 to replace shrubs that didn't make it through the winter and <br />also to replant the mound on SOM. <br />The Mayor stated that a liquor permit requested for 885 SOM Center <br />was withdrawn. However, the Lawson Store located on SOM is request- <br />ing a C-1 permit. <br />Mayor Beebe informed residents in the Aintree Park area that the <br />college boys painting house numbers on curbs has stopped. Village <br />ordinance forbids house to house soliciting and also, he does not <br />think it is necessary to have dual numbers. <br />Mr. Relic, Finance Director arrived ath this time - 8:40 P.M. <br />The Mayor wished to answer some questions pertaining to his veto on <br />two line items out of 81 items. He read portions of a memo he pre- <br />pared with copies available for Council, the news media and anyone <br />else interested. He also stated that the Mayor is responsible for <br />all finances and ,that he is close to all departments and is aware of <br />all problems, and pleaded ~to Council to consider 24 hour dispatching. <br />(Copy of memo attached) <br />In answer to Mr. Peterson's letter the Mayor stated that our Fire <br />Dept. is well equipped with personnel and .equipment. The present <br />Van may not be designed to handle cardiac patients, but we do have <br />an ambulance for such emergencies. <br />COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS: <br />Mr. Grogan welcomed Mrs. Fender's class from Mayfield Center School <br />who was in the audience. <br />Mr. Grogan advised that Mr. Busa will serve as a representative of <br />the Mayfield Village Council to discuss ambulance service in the <br />Council of Councils. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Budget/Appropriations - Norreport from Mr. Bennett. <br />Public Safety - Mr. Flynn reported that a Lieutenant's vacancy exists <br />in the Fire Department. Ordinance authorizes two lieutenant's to oper- <br />ate the department efficiently. Presently there is one. Mr. Flynn <br />requested the Mayor to notify the Civil Service Commission. <br />Public Se=vice-& Public Utilities - Mr. Busa stated that ordinance for <br />registration of contractors to be passed under New Business. <br />Architectural Review Board - No report from Mr. Barclay. <br />Cemetery - Mr. Bordonaro reported that the committee's annual meeting <br />will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 7:30 P.M. in the Village Hall. <br />
