~~ <br />-2- <br />MAYORS COMIuIENTS <br />Mayor Beebe extended his gratitude 'to Mrs. VanNess, Who has resigned, <br />for her excellent service in the past, Council applauded. He, at this ~. <br />time, introduced Mrs. NIartin as her replacement. <br />Mayor Beebe announced plans for the July 4th celebration. A Balloon <br />Race trould be held and asked the Recreation Department to please give <br />Mr. Amendola their assistance in carrying this through. He suggested <br />they also schedule some type of entertainment. <br />The l~iayor reported he had a phone call from a resident on Robins Circle <br />asking if there could be an amendment to the Ordinance on the trapping <br />of animals in the city limits. Mayor Beebe remarked he was against any <br />type of trapping and asked Mr. Byrnes to draw up the amendment. <br />COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS: <br />Mr. Grogan said a meeting :was being held on May 24, 1977 of the Council <br />of Councils with benefits of PERS being discussed. A representative from <br />Columbus would be the speaker. <br />Mr. Grogan also said Hillcrest Hospital got permission from tY~estate on <br />the expansion. Its cost will be anywhere from seven million to eleven <br />million dollars, ho::~ever, approval will be discussed with Blue Cross. He <br />was reassuring that bids from local contractors would not be eliminated. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Budget/Appropriations - Mr. Bennett had nothing to report. They are <br />working on salary increases. <br /> <br />Public Safety - Mr. Flynn said no results of the Sergeants test had <br />been released to date. He advised Council that there had been a three <br />year vacancy in the Fire Department for Lieutenant position; and accord- <br />ing to the rules, the Mayor must send out notification of this. <br />Mr. Grogan said he thought communication had been made. <br />Mayor Beebe said a letter would be sent to the Civil Service Commission. <br />Public Service & Public Utilities - Mr. Busa was absent. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Barclay read the minutes of the April <br />?_1, 1977 meeting. <br />Cemetery - Mr. Bordonaro read the minutes of the annual meeting held <br />May 5, 1977. He reported all was well accept for need of $300.00 from <br />each community for the annual tariff for the upkeep of the cemetery. <br />Notification will be given to Mr. Relic. Mr. Grogan said to check if <br />it was in the budget. <br />
