Byrnes stated that funds given to the associations ~•aere not <br />public and accountable to the Finance Director. <br />There being no further comments, that portion of the meeting closed. <br />I~Ir. Busa, seconded by P-Ir. Schulte, made a motion to approve the <br />minutes of the May 16, 1977 meeting. <br />Roll Call: aYES: Messrs., Bennett, Bordonaro, Busa, Flynn, <br />Grogan and Schulte <br />NAYS: None <br />P•gAYORS COAiT•lENTS <br />IYlotion Carried <br />Minutes ~=approved <br />P~ayor Beebe expressed appreciation to I~Ir. amendola and Les Foltz <br />and the others involved in the beautification of the Village and <br />mentioned the nes,~ signs did justice to the Village irnage. <br />He clid ~~rant to mention the celebration of the Fourth of July holi- <br />day would be held on July 3rd and was described in detail in the <br />Voice of the Village, which would be delivered soon and hoped to <br />get assistance from the residence on July 2nd. <br />A•Iayor Beebe said the Village Hall had been given a major cleaning <br />last week, its first in the last five years. <br />He said letters had been sent to Senator Calabrese and Represent- <br />ative aveni on our opposition of Senate Bill 222. He said there <br />Ttras going to be additional letters signed by all area Mayors and <br />given to the News Nledia. <br />Mayor Beebe stated that there is t~a~o new police cars available for <br />service. The t~ti*o 1976 cars are in the process of getting painted <br />and serviced and will be used by the Building and Fire Departments. <br />Mayor Beebe said a copy of the Ohio T~Zuni!cipal League Bulletin would <br />soon be sent to Council to keep them informed on Senate Bill 222. <br />The Mayor said the oldest employee of the Fire Dept., assistant <br />to the Chief, Ernest b~7hiteman, moved to Florida and planned a visit <br />to the Village. He suggested the Fire Dept. plan something to honor <br />NIr. V~hiteman. <br />Mayor Beebe announced that monies inrere available to the local mu- <br />nicipalities through Local Public 4~Torks Program Round II. <br />I~2r. Hovancsek stated that our chances were perhaps nil but felt <br />we vaould qualify to resubmit two projects if our unemployment rate <br />wasp' t too loza. <br />COUNCIL PRESIDENT' S COIv1IdENTS <br />'~y __ <br />Mr. Grogan stated that all concerned ~A~ere opposed to Senate Bill <br />7_22 and asked that anyone coming in contact with Rep. ~'~veni to <br />please express their opposition. <br />
