l02
-2-
The land does not indicate it is practical to use for residential and would
create a hardship as far as sewerage itc. The Village would be opening
a can of worms to more high density, tic tac housing.
i~~ir. Pat LaConti, 320 S.O.Ia1. Center, sai d I thought it would be a good
time to have my say. For the past three or four years I've been trying
to get back what I had, commercial zoning. I have spent much time and
money on this. .~~11 I can say is, we have got to prepare ourselves for
the future and we need protection for what we have and our investments.
I offered alternate plans but no one listened. I'm appealing to the
people here to consider that I'm making plans for the future. ~°~hat can
we have? I have spent money to appeal and people should be advised to
what we really want to do.
I•~Ir. I3oward Schultz, 450 S.O.I~1. Center, said these newcomers need to be
advised to the complete evaluation of the land. He said a great percent
of that area cannot be changed because it is already established. He
said Charlie Studen (Don Ray Products) has been kept from exaandinct and
he is a source of revenue for the Village. His building is not an eye-
sore and he shouldn't be treated like he has been. He said the money
put out to appeal should be used to update the Village. He said I~~eis-
bercl's home is a multi-family home and his own property has ten different
uses. He went on to say no one was going to force him into anything.
?~Ir. Edward Schultz_ 6862 Pietro Park F'rive. said I have come a full circle
in this area and most of the Villagers and I agree with Ben Reich to be
in harmony. The Villagers need to be heard. He told Council they
were the servants of the people. The Civic League has been harrassed
because they were backing up the Voice of the Villagers. He said Judge
IZrenzler came to his home and suggested if he~:were to keep quiet that
he would see that premium homes were built in the area.. The Civic League
would not compromise. They turned him down and stood up for the Village
history. He said what is this all about. You may but on your armor but
can be assured that come election night the Voice of The Village will put
on their armor.
TfIrs~> Lee Leopardi, 510 S.O.ri., asked why Schultz feels he needs to threaten
the Council, she is the one who lives next door and it's her rights that
should be considered.
r,~r. Robert r~.reckel, 522 ~,orn Lane, asked "compared to the cost of the
litigation up to now, whould an appeal be a small portion of the liti-
Tdr. Byrnes said what really occurred was this case was heard by a -judge.
who passed away. it was presented to another -judge who died. and then to
Judge ~ingale. who made the decision. He said all the work is done but
research would have to be made of what has happened since the decision.
He said the cost would be negligible to pursue the appeal.
Doctor I:arfes, 6775 i-iickory Hill Drive, stated that he had called his
neighbors and they were totally in favor of the appeal.
PIr. No Tombazzi. 67F1 Metro Park Drive, said everybody thinks it's
fantastic to live in P•Iavfield Village. Is it, do you think, because
it's a residential Village or because it's known as an industrial area?
