He is planning to pursue this to its fullest <br />extent.if it meant going to Columbus. The State's main objection was <br />the clearing of sidewalks.. Surely this would have priority consider- <br />ing the safety of the school children. <br />COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS: <br />Mr. Busa had no comments.- <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Budget/Appropriations: Mr. Grogan stated that the Committee~,met over <br />a period of several months and the final budget was up for a_vote on <br />tonights agenda. He felt this budget meets the needs of the community <br />for thennext year. <br />Public Safety: Mr. Flynn stated that on February 28, 1978 two Village <br />Firemen were injured while aiding Mayfier]!c3. Heights in fighting the fire <br />at the Eastgate Shopping Center. Due to their commendable action, w~?.~ii~ <br />disregard for their personal safety, a lot of buildings were saved. <br />Special. recoginition will be given to these men. <br />Mr. Flynn expressed his approval of the accomplishments of the Fire De- <br />partment in the past two years: Addition of a new full-time fireman, <br />appropriation of funds in this years budget for-a new fire vehicle and <br />the drop in the Fire Insurance Rate Classification. <br />Public Service and Public Utilities: <br />No report. <br />J <br />Architectural Review Board: _Due to lack of Council representation, <br />Mr. Amendola was appointed as spokesman for the A.R.B. <br />Mr. Amendola read the minutes of March 16, 1978 with a special no- <br />tation that the existing violations at the Progressive Insurance Build- <br />ing wereebeing corrected. <br />Mr. Grogan asked abou t~.the present situation of 500 people being in the <br />building; was this over a three-shift period? <br />Mr. Amendola replied yes and the company is in the process of expanding. <br />In fact, the A.R.B. is in the process of reviewing the plans: <br />Mr. Flynn asked why, in reference to a letter received from Mr. Amendola, <br />was the State inspector called in? <br />Mr. Amendola replied because of the removal a-srid rearrangement of pre- <br />wired partitions. <br />Cemetery: Mr. Bordonaro said there is to be a meeting on April 5, 1978. <br />Mr. Busa asked if the taxing problem had been resolved yet? <br />Mr. Bordonaro said it.would be settled hopefully at the April meeting. <br />Council of Councils: Mrs. Hanus reported she had attended the meeting <br />on February 22nd and enjoyed an interesting talk given by a representa- <br />tive from the Ford Motor Company.
