2~~~
Mayor Beebe stated the subject of C.E.I. on Beta was on the
Agenda later and he'd have further comments at that time. He
also commented that there was to be a pre-construction meeting
on May 18th. A delegate from our Engineer's office would be
attending and he requested Mr. Amendola to also attend, re sig-
nalization. He said there was a pole installed for the High-
land/SOM signal. He questioned Mr. Hovancsek as well as Mr.
Avery on the inability of these contracts being finished on
their target date. Can't a penalty clause be inserted?
Mr. Hovancsek commented that in reference to signalization, it's
difficult since the suppliers are at fault.
Mayor Beebe asked Mr. Avery to swear in two firemen, Geno Durant,
of 6811 Seneca Road, Mayfield Village, Robert He2ss, of 6643
Indiana Avenue, Mayfield Heights. They will be apart of the
Village's Part-time Fire Force.
Council President's Comments: Mr. Busa had no comments.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Budqet & Ap ropriations: Mr. Bennett said a meeting had taken place
last Wednesday with another meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 18th
at 8:00 P.M.
Mr. Busa questioned if the Arco property was up for consideration.
Mr. Avery stated that with the Myotte settlement, he would now
have time to devote to the settlement of this.
Public Safety: Mr. Flynn stated that he was pleased to see the
light at the school crossing at Ridgebury. Also, the No Turn On
Red Sign at Wilson Mills/SOM intersection - was glad to hear it
would be up next week.
He was confident that the Civil Service Commission will have con-
ducted a test and a new Police Chief will be selected before Chief
Shortle leaves.
Public Service and Public Utilities:
Mayor Beebe stated he had received a letter from ArnolD Miller of
C.E.I. on the costs of lighting for Beta Drive. Two different
types of lighting are available - High Pressure sodium or Mercury
lamps. The letter and cost analysis will be copied for Council.
Mr. Flynn commented the Sodium Lamps produce a golden glow and were
more effective than the Mercury.
Mr. Busa asked Council to review these and be ready for action at
the next Caucus.
