The summer program is finished. <br />Heinen's - Mr. Amendola said the footers have been poured and no <br />further delays are anticipated. Mayor Beebe commented he had writ- <br />ten Mr. Heinen with re to the opening date and was h^oping for an <br />article for the V.O.V. Mr. Busa questioned the delays in the.con- <br />struction and why the store couldn't be open for the holidays. Mr. <br />Amendola commented the rains had been cause for delay and knew Mr. <br />Heinen's policy is never to open before any holiday. <br />OLD BUSINESS,• <br />S.O.M. CENTER FLOOD SUIT - There was a discussion on newspaper head- <br />lines with regard to who won the suit - the Village or the homeowner. <br />Mr. Feneli commented that technically, when a dollar is awarded the <br />party receivi:~?ggthe money is considered to have won the case. <br />Mr. Bennett said they had received phone calls from Mrs. Dixon and. <br />Mrs. Myotte regarding flooding in their area. He went to the.site <br />and observed that the now Village owned bridge had washed away. It <br />was his opinion that the culvert under S.O.M. was causing the block- <br />age which caused the flooding. 'Mayor Beebe questioned if their base- <br />ments had been f]ooded and Mr. Bennett replied no but their yards did. <br />1 <br />Mr. Busa asked Mr. Hovancsek for his professional opinion re S.O.M. <br />being the cause for the flooding. Mr. Hovancsek stated that the <br />culvert at S.O.M. is the major cause and he is prepared to draft <br />plans for a new culvert with Council's approval; ~~ <br />Mayor Beebe said it should be noted that this was one of the worst <br />rains in Village history and Mr. Flynn agreed that flooding had been <br />reported in nearby communities. Chief Hejcl reported that .the official <br />report was 2% inches of rain in 45 minutes. <br />Mr. Amendola said he had also received phone-calls on Saturday and <br />.Sunday from Mrs. Dixon and Mrs. MyotteF~ and he had written the Law <br />Director and Mayor Beebe regarding this. Mayor Beebe said the letter <br />would be .circulated this week. <br />Arco Property Procurement - No report.. <br />Letter re John Brown - Mr. Flynn questioned a letter circulated from <br />Avery's office re a claim by a John Brown, Jr. Mr. Avery would be asked <br />to clarify at the next Caucus. <br />Jakeway Progress Report - Mr. Hovancsek said he had submitted more in- <br />formation and is waiting for~word re a meeting. <br />Village Hall Paving/Sealing - Mr. Hovancsek reported on the various <br />bids received ranging from $1,097.20 to $1500.00. He recommended that <br />Council award the contract to the low Bidder, Lee H. Gould Company. <br />Discussion was,held on materials used, time limit for sealing, past <br />performance of bidder etc. Mr. Hovancsek to review and certify that <br />the sealing was to be done according to manufacturers recommendations. <br />If the formula is not to specifications, Lee Gould Co. bid is void. <br />Mr. Relic stated that with this condition he would be satisfied with <br />a motion instead of delaying work until legislation could be passed <br />provided it is passed at the next meeting. <br />
