September 18, 1978 at 8:15 P.M. in the Village Hall. Council
President, Vince Busa presided.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Roll Call: Present:. Messrs., Busa, Bordonaro, Boger, Flynn, Grogan
and Mrs. Hanus
Absent: Mr. Bennett
Also Present were: Messrs., Amendola, Feneli, Hovancsek, Relic, Foltz,
Chief Hejcl and Acting Chief Litman.
OPEN PORTION•
Mr. Ronald Bear, of 6819 Wilson .Mills Road, directed a question to
Mr. Hovancsek: "IS Council going to take care of sewer problems.-
raw sewage came up in his basement and his neighbors. There was 11"
of water/sewage in his basement and he worked till 5:30 trying to get
it out. This situation is getting out of hand and if the Village Ad-
ministration will not do anything, .perhaps they will have to go to some-
one who will. He has had this problem for over three years and is
tired of hearing "It's an unfortunate situation." It's evident the
Pumping Station is not adequate.
Mrs. Ann Krupp, of 6799 Wilson Mills Road, stated.they were pouring
the water out the windows to keep from having their appliances under
water. If .the storm caused all the backup they why the raw sewage?
Mr. Bear commented that this problem was to have been solved a couple
of years ago. Council should stand up and get this problem solved.
They've. tried contacting the Cleveland Regional Sewer District and
they don't do anything - besides. it's too late after the basement is
flooded.
Mr. Tony Krupp, of 6799 Wilson Mills Road, asked just who would.be
the party to contact?
Mr. George Miller, of 6827 Wilson Mills, a resident of the Village
some 17 years, said he had flooding the first year. His neighbors
didn't but now they do. It seems the more building the more flooding.
Something really has to be done now. This last storm, everyone ex-
pected some flooding but it doesn't take a violent storm to get flooded.
Mr. Feneli questioned if raw sewage was part of the back up on all
occasions or just occasionally. Mr. Miller stated it was all ,the time.
Mrs. FitaGerald, of 6900 Wilson Mills Road, said that she had her own
septic system but the stream went through her property and her base-
ment drain went into the stream. She heard the noice from the pumping
station releasing water into the stream and she ended up with 10" of .
water in her basement. She is very high in relation to the station.
She thanked the Fire Dept. for helping get the pilot light back on in
her hot water tank. She questioned if building in this area could be
stopped.
