MINUTES OF THE REGULRFt MEETSNG
Village of Mayfield
January 15, .1973
The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in regular session at
Mayfield Village Hall on January 15 at.8:05 p.m. Mayor Beebe presided.
The Pledge ot Allegiance to the Flag was given.: '
Roll Call: Present: Mayor Beebe, Messrs. Boger, Bordonaro,
Braun, Davis, & Schmidt
Absent: Mr. Leech
Also present were Messrs.• Relic, Byrnes, Hovancsek, D'Agostino,_ and
Chief Shortle. Chief Hejcl was called to answer a fire alarm.
The Mayor prefaced this open segment of the meeting by reminding the
audience that the open heaxing on Ordinance 72-2 had already been held.
A half-hour only will be allotted for this subject and any others.
Comments from the fl.oor:
Richard Kleinman, Attorney (1110 Euclid Avenue) represented Howard
Schul.z a1d Donray Products : Most of the property owners (230 acres ) are
here. Mr. Schulz has 40 acres and Donray Products has 8. The major
objection to rezoning this area from industrial to single fami:ly useage
is because they"can't get proper sewers in for 10 years. Rezoning would
be highly detrimental to the owners. The Council is demanding useage
which the people do not want. There is no reason why this came up to
begin with.
Robert Jaffe,- Attorney (2121 South Green) represented Mr. Weisburg
and Mr. Leon.ardi: Mr. Jaffe referred to a letter from Forest City.
Recommended notices be sent to at least two or three people in the. "
immediate area. Object to rezoning to single family making it a non-
conforming use. Suggest something more than a routirie passage of this
Ordi.nance. A master plan was designed by Regional Planning in 1962 at
which time SOM Center Road was already the heaviest travelled in the
Village. Rather than act quickly, send this back to Regional Planning
or some party of planning experts to make suggestions and give property
owners an opportunity to make a decision. Doesn't it make sense to
treat this thing fairly? Let's study it and get.expert advice.
Ruth Gilles, 6180 Wilson Mills Road: I have to be much more objective.
I don't own property there. We have a].ready deprived these people
due process of law. Are we trying to advertise for.I-290 to come
through., Mr. Beebe, are you going to the meeting this Friday? The
Mayor repliecl he knew nothing about it. Unti1 we have a feasible plan
we should keep this as a safeguard. Leave this zoning as-is this time
around.
Pat LaConte, Parkview Golf Course: Without receiving any notice and
? having lived in your Vill.age a number of years, I am opposed to your
rules of law._ In acquiring additional property our intentions were to
realize its best use for the time being and for the future.
