MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />Village of Mayfield <br />May 18, 1970 <br />The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in regular session at St, Bartholomew <br />Church on Monday, May 18, 1970 at 8:20 PMT Mayor Busa, presiding. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. <br />Roll Call: PRESENT: Mayor Busa, Messrs. Leech, Fitz-Gerald, Bordonaro, Boger, <br />Schmidt and Davis. <br />ABSENT: None <br />Also present were Messrs. Lockemer, Edelman and Hovancsek <br />Mr. Leech had one question relating to the footage on Page 8 of the April 20, 1970 <br />minutes regarding the 370 foot figure from SOM Center Road on the former Post <br />property for the proposed Senior Citizens Building. It was found to be correct as <br />written. All in favor; minutes approved as written. <br />Local Income Tax,:: A progress report. of the meeting at Mr. Corsi's office on May 13, <br />1970 was given by Mrs. Eloise Maynard. ~t was promised the next meeting will have <br />the W-2 listings worked out by addresses. <br />I-290: Mr. Fitz-Gerald read a letter from Mr. Yurick of the Ohio State Highway <br />Department. He personally talked with Governor Rhodes and was assured that I-290 <br />will rest until November. Also a letter from the Regional Planning Commission's <br />proposed southern route, Mr. Hovancsek reported that there is nothing new. <br />Governor Rhodes may consider the southern route, but there is nothing official, <br />as yet, <br />Widening of SOM Center Road: A progress report was read, Mayor Busa had a meet- <br />ing with Mayor DeJohn of Mayfield Heights. People are resisting the sale of their <br />frontage and it may hold up the widening of SOM. The request is now $;40,000,00, <br />which was previously $12,000.00 for the moving of the fire hydrants and water <br />lines. Mr. Hovancsek reported that they can not go out and get bids until the <br />ordinance is signed. He also stated that additional money will be needed to install <br />these lines, The question of difference in money was discussed and ability to pay. <br />Mr, Edelman advised council not to act upon the ordinance proposed by the state <br />until the money issue is resolved. Mr. Lockemer reported that $4,000 to $5,000 is <br />available in State highway fund. Mayor Busa said to explore, sum it up and allow <br />the engineer and law department resolve it. No further comment, Mr. Schanfarber <br />wondered if the additional cost was due to the removing of the utilities down to <br />the ditch beyond Thornapple Drive. <br />City of Cleveland Water Tap-In: It has not been a problem to us yet, We have had <br />no pccasion to tap-in. Mrp D'Agostino assured us we are not affected by it now, <br />Granting of building perma.ts is up to us, Applicants must get their own tap®in. <br />Mr. Edelman can foresee lawsuits® <br />
