70
Leinke Peirce - Upper Forties Drive - said she is curious to know if any-
thing has happened to the creek sinc e she last talked to them about it..
Mayor Carmen said two meetings were held with Mr. Caticchio regarding the
widening of the drainage canal. At the last meeting, he told Mr. Caticchio
to get the facts so he could analyze the problems and set up meetings with
the residents affected.
Mr. Hovancsek said he met with the contractor and Pat Caticchio. Theq looked
at the site and the contractor will be getting the price. Mayor Carmen said
that Mr. Courtney represented to us that there will be a temporary problem
only. He said he asked Mr. Courtney to put that in writing. Maqor Carmen,
said they told Mr. Caticchio that they want boulders placed at the mouth of the
drainage area to slow the velocity down. He said that before anyth"ing else is
done, the residents will be advised4
Marlene Kozlevchar, 6735 Hickory Hi11 Drive - said she would like to give a
short review of the April 6 Caucus Meeting. She said when I came here.and
asked why I must take down my no trespassing sign, you told me in no uncertain
terms they were illegal due to the fact that I was still having construction
done on my property and they were put up as a precaution against people getting
hurt. You also told me, both Mr. Carmen and Mr. Feneli, that if my signs were
not down i:n five days I would be prosecuted. At that time she said she handed
Mr. Amendola a list of 26 violations. Not all of these violations have been
taken.care of. She said she is here tonight to ask you gentlemen, why you are
being selective in enforcing the ordinances in Mayfield Village.
Mayor Carmen said as they had discussed on the phone earlier, the Village is
not being selective in enforcing the code. They are giving residents the time
tYiey require to make the necessary changes. Mayor Carmen said they are in the
process of reviewing the sign ordinance; certain changes need to be made. He
explained how tYiey have determined that no trespassing signs woul.d be
appropriatein certain areas like near the C.E.I. plant. The purpose of the
ordinance is not to cite; it is to gain compliance. If the residen.ts indicated
that they will comply but they need more time, they are giving them more time.
Mrs..Kozlevchar said she was told that she had until Wednesday at noon when the
mail came. She said Mayor Carmen also told her that she had taken her sign
down a half an hour early; she was lucky because she would've been cited. She
said if that is not discriminatory again.st her and selective, then sYie guesses.
she.has the whole.t.irong attitude about the Village and the people living here.
Mr. Feneli said he did not think it is a matter of being discriminatory. Just
because Mrs. Kozlevchar turned in a list of so many names does not mandate that
the municipality drop everything they're doing and send the Building Commissioner
out to take care of the signs. It is done with whatever time and manpower we have
available. He said from what he understands a.substantial majori.ty of the
violations on the list have been corrected by voluntary compliance; he does
not believe anyone was cited.
Mrs. Kozlevchar said she was told that Mr. Amendola would have to give her her
citation;'and she was getting it, no uncertain terms you were going to give
it to me.
