45
MINUTES OF TIM REGULAR 1VIEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
March 18, 1991
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Regular Session on Monday, March 18, 1991, at
eight o'clock (8 p.m.) in the Council Chambers at the Mayfield Village Hall. Council President
Bruce Rinker presided.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Mills,
Mr. Pietrafese, and Mr. Rinker
Absent : None
Also Present Were: Mayor Carmen, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. Patrick,
Mr. Ramos, Chief Stevens, and Miss Heath.
OPEN PORTION
Judge Robert Grogan. 480 Oakton Circle, said that about a year ago he and Sandy Bordonaro were
here to talk about acquiring Parkview Golf Course. They were gratified when Council and the
Mayor appointed a committee to look into that. He said the committee spent numerous hours
discussing the possibility of acquiring the golf course. He said that in the fall by a 4-1 vote the
committee approved the dealing for the golf course land. Then the Village put up some dollazs and
had an appraisal done. The matter was brought back to Council and by a 4-3 vote the committee
vote was approved and there was an ordinance discussed last fall. Judge Grogan said that in the
Voice of the Village last January the Mayor and two Councilpeople wrote about it; in the last issue
of the Voice of the Village there was not one word from the Mayor or any member of Council so
he came to see what is happening. Judge Grogan said he wants to lrnow what has happened to the
ordinance which called for negotiations and purchase and to start eminent domain proceedings.
Judge Grogan said he feels we can acquire the land and build a police and fire station and can also
acquire the golf course. He said the only difference is that the golf course will start paying the
dollars back from the minute we acquire it. Judge Grogan aslced what is going on and what
happened to the ordinance and recommended that the Village start rnoving one way or another.
Mr. Rinker said he was on the committee and he was a dissenting vote. He said that the LaContes
have sued Mayfield Village and the litigation has been outstanding for some time. He said we have
been made aware that Williamsburg Homes is looking into some type of development but we do
not know what the details are. Mr. Rinker said that ultimately they are the property owners, they
have the right to do with their property what they wish as long as it is zoned properly. Mr. Rinker
said that every person.on Council is concerned with what will go there and on the adjacent
property. He said that is not an easy quesrion to answer; we do not have the money to get that
property outright. He said we are trying to look out for the people, for the community; the Mayor
and Council aze not looking the other way.
