I ej,
Special Council Meeting
11/13/91
Page Six
Mr. Chokel said the abatement actually would not begin until construction is completed. It will
begin in 1994 and would run 15 years.
Mr. Flynn asked how Progressive happened to arrive at the percentage.
Mr. Chokel explained they started looking at a 20-year abatement but discovered that 20-year
abatements can only be done in an urban development area. Legally they could not do one for 20
years; the maximum time this type of abatement could be granted is for 15 years.
Mrs. Cinco asked if this will be ready on Monday along with the site development proposal.
Mayor Carmen said there will be a separate ordinance on abatement (which is required
legislatively.) Mayor Carmen commended Dan Patrick for the excellent job he did by preparing
the input today.
Mr. Pietrafese asked if Council would be voting on this on Monday.
Mr. Rinker confiimed that Council would be voting Monday. He said there are two separate
considerarions (the abatement and the concept approval.)
Mayor Carmen said this will be for the preliminary concept only.
Mr. Pietrafese said he wants to assure the residents of Mayfield Heights and ours by preliminary
acceptance their level of power is not being decreased.
Mr. Rinker said they have seen the change in proposal for the southern lot line. ]Eie asked for a
straw vote from Council--all in favor of the abatement:
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Camed
Straw poll confirms all members of Council are in favor of the proposed abatement.
Mayor Cannen said he will tell the School Board President and Dr. Abbott what we are
contemplating Monday.
Mr. Flynn asked about notifying residents:
Mayor Carmen said it was not inappropriate to do so.
Sale of Christmas Trees
Mrs. Cinco said that she thinks it would look tacky to have Christmas trees set up near our
$80,000 gazebo which will be nicely decorated for the holidays. She does not feel it is worth
$1,000.
Mrs. Mills and other members of Council agreed they would rather not allow the Christmas trees to
be sold neaz the gazebo.
