56 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />2/21/94 <br />Page Twenty-two <br />Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Stephens, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council <br />requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 94-9. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Ordinance Enacted <br />First Reading of Ordinance No 94-10, entitled; "An emergency ordinance authorizing an <br />agreement with Community Mutual Insurance Company as and for employee health care <br />and hospitalization benefits. Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Stephens, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council <br />requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Flynn, Mr. Stephens <br />NAYS: Mr. Fixler Motion Carried <br />, Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Stephens, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 94-10. <br />Mr. Fixler said we have had a 7% increase. He asked why we are not going out for <br />some other bids. Mr. Fixler said he was told by 1VIr. Barrett that there would not be <br />an increase in our contract. <br />Mr. Brett explained that one thing you want to avoid is going from one insurance <br />company to another because they give you a lower bid the first year, but the second <br />year, you might get a 25% increase. We usually look that as long as the carrier is <br />maintaining a reasonable increase that it does not warrant the expenditure and <br />the logistical work that it takes to go out to bid. <br />Mr. Fixler said he does not believe it is fair when he was told by Mr. Barrett that there <br />would not be an increase at all. He asked if it would be harmful to put some feelers out <br />to make sure we are doing the best we can for our citizens. <br /> <br /> <br />?
