56 Regular Council Meeting 2/21/94 Page Twenty-two Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Stephens, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. ROLL CALL: AYES: All NAYS: None Motion Carried Rules Suspended Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 94-9. ROLL CALL: AYES: All NAYS: None Motion Carried Ordinance Enacted First Reading of Ordinance No 94-10, entitled; "An emergency ordinance authorizing an agreement with Community Mutual Insurance Company as and for employee health care and hospitalization benefits. Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Stephens, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Flynn, Mr. Stephens NAYS: Mr. Fixler Motion Carried , Rules Suspended Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Stephens, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 94-10. Mr. Fixler said we have had a 7% increase. He asked why we are not going out for some other bids. Mr. Fixler said he was told by 1VIr. Barrett that there would not be an increase in our contract. Mr. Brett explained that one thing you want to avoid is going from one insurance company to another because they give you a lower bid the first year, but the second year, you might get a 25% increase. We usually look that as long as the carrier is maintaining a reasonable increase that it does not warrant the expenditure and the logistical work that it takes to go out to bid. Mr. Fixler said he does not believe it is fair when he was told by Mr. Barrett that there would not be an increase at all. He asked if it would be harmful to put some feelers out to make sure we are doing the best we can for our citizens. ?
