57

CD
co
M
?
z
?
?

Regular Council Meeting
2/21/94
Page Twenty-three
Mrs. Cinco said Council did this three years ago. She explained that Mr. Barrett shops
for us; he does not work for Community Mutual. An increase of 7% in the field of insurance
is very reasonable.
Mr. Fixler said not when he was told there would be no increase.
Mrs. Cinco said our employees are very happy with their dollar one coverage with Community
Mutual.
Mr. Fixler said he is sure they are happy and he certainly does not want to make them unhappy,
but there is a lot...
Mayor Rinker said let me interrupt. His feeling is that maybe we should have invited Larry
Barrett here tonight. We should not have any second-guessing about this, about whether or
not we shopped around. He said he knows that if we do shift, we create some risk factors
for some people. There are some employees at a higher risk than others. There is a serious
question here. We could have had Larry Barrett here tonight if we knew there were
questions. We went though an exhaustive search last year.
Discussion was held.
Mr. Busa said he believes the Finance Director said it well. He has no doubt that we
could get it for a few bucks less the first year, then they will stick it to us in the next two
or three years. It is usually a disaster the third year.
Mr. Flynn said the Village covers 29 families and 8 singles at an annual cost of $197,549.
The increase would be approximately $12-13,000 this year.
ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Flynn, Mr. Stephens
NAYS: Mr. Fixler Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 94-11, entitled; "An emergency ordinance authorizing
payment to the County Engineer with reference to Highland Road resurfacing. Introduced
by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mr. Fixler, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council
requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
