38
„ Regular Council Meeting
2/21/94
Page Four
since Phil came on board, he has been angling toward being able to propose a package
of material in this fashion that is very readable. He commends Council to read it and
they will follow through with further discussions on it. Mayor Rinker said they are also
making copies available to the public as much as they can. They are being printed off
the printer. Depending on the demand, they may look into a more efficient way of
printing it. Right now, this is public record and he encourages people to look it over. It
is very readable.
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT CINCO
Mrs. Cinco had no comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
Service - Mr. Amendola reported that he met with the senior snow plowers today.
(Bordonaro, Pasquale and one of the men who took some of Pasquale's work while he
was on his honeymoon. ) They discussed the reports they had received. He received a
5-page report from Donna which listed complaints she has received. Most complaints
were after the Christmas holiday. All of the items are pretty well taken care of by these
fellows. Mr. Amendola said the main subject they brought up was the violation that
exists by their snowplowers pushing snow across the street. Mr. Amendola said he will
ask the Chief of Police if that section of our ordinance can be enforced so the next time
anybody pushes snow across the street, they will be ticketed immediately. Mr.
Amendola said they also checked the damage that was done during the snow period.
He recommended that they take the time to take their list of homes and go house to
house to check for any damage that may be in the lawns, fences, shrubs, etc. Mr.
Amendola said he recommended they take care of the problems themselves so the
residents would not have to call Village Hall to have this taken care of. He believes that
is a definite part of their responsibility along with the plowing of the snow. He
suggested they make themselves visible to the resident (and not go at night) so the
resident knows they do care a little about what their responsibility is. He believes they
both understood what he was trying to put across. He said the Village will be watching
them more than ever if it ever snows again.
Mayor Rinker said the Village is going to submit a questionnaire to the residents on the
snowplowing program. It will include just a handful of questions. He believes the
volume of calls has increased because of the demands [due to weather] placed on the
program. He would like to get an idea of what residents feel need to be improved. This
has been a real test year to say the least.
