75
Regular Council Meeting
3/21/94
Page Thirteen
Mr. Basile said he attended the preconstruction meeting on February 28 and the
contractor said he thought he could live with keeping Highland: and White and
Wildwood open to go across Highland, but then Lt. Jay said that would be a safety
hazard.
?
M Mayor Rinker said he spoke directly with Mr. Calabrese. He had word of mouth that
CV) the contractor said he could do it no problem. He told me something totally different.
< Mayor Rinker said he asked what would be involved, how long will it take, and what
z will be hazardous. He said it would take at least 30 extra days and it would be
? extremely hazardous; he did not like the idea at all.
Mrs. Cinco said she will take itivo more comments from the floor.
Mary Dodson, asked if there are any plans to have any kind of traffic control at that
S.O.M. and White intersection. It seems in the morning for anyone coming out of
Aintree North that has to go north and make a left onto White Road, if every other car
that would have come south and would have to detour onto White, that is just going to
back us up onto S.O.M. trying to make left-hand turn. Lt. Jay said we will monitor that as well as the other routes that the people will have to
be detoured. Wlierever it is going to be necessary, if we have to put some people in
there to facilitate movement during those high peak periods of time, we will handle
that. Right now, we can only guess what is going to happen when this all begins and
what time all these peaks are going to reach. Unfortunately, we are not a 500 man
police department, so we would be spreading ourselves a little thin, but we will do the
best we can at those locations where it is really going to create some problems. The
advantage the northbound traffic will have there is that the southbound traffic will be
minimized; there is not going to be much. The first detour will be at Chardon Road. He
explained the truck detour route which passenger cars may also use.
Norma Basconi. 6808 Bramblewood, said she is very concerned about ambulance
service. As the Lt. just said, this is not a 500 member police department. You take some
evenings you may have four or five emergencies in the Village. If someone in this area
that is affected by this traffic pattern would need an ambulance and there is not a
patrolman out there to control the traffic, if we lose one resident because there was a
delay in ambulance time getting to Hillcrest, you people on the panel are going to have
to answer to us.
?
