Cinco said the variation in bids (between the top two bidders) is small considering
the sum of money.
Mr. Flynn said he has seen a lot of T.C.'s work and it has been excellent.
Mr. Stephens said it is his understanding that T.C. does quality work.
Mayor Rinker said the engineer did not recommend Council take the lowest bid. The
Village has, historically, had difficulty dealing with Calabrese Cement for a number of
reasons: The Village is committed to take the best--not the lowest bid; the price
differential is not significant between the amounts bid by Calabrese Cement and T.C.
Construction Company. Mayor Rinker said it is his understanding that the Engineer did
not recommend the lowest and recommended the next one up; there was no reason to go
further up. .
Mr. Fixler asked about some concrete work he thought the Calabrese Company did last
year on an apron on Washington Extension--were any problems with that job?
Mr. Amendola said not that he knows of.
Mayor Rinker said it is his understanding the two jobs on Washington Extension worked
out adequately; there were other troubles with remaining work to be performed. Mayor
Rinker said his recommendation is that they stick with someone they feel confident with.
First Reading of Resolution No. 94-32, entitled; "An emergency resolution authorizing
the Mayor to enter into a contract with T.C. Construction Company, Inc. for the concrete
street repair program in the amount of $12,750.00." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and
Council.
