161
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
June 20,1994
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Regular Session on Monday, June 20,1994, at
8 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall. Council President Joanne Cinco
presided.
? ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler,
? Mr. Flynn, and Mr. Stephens
Q Absent: None
z
? Also Present Were: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Diemert,
Mr. Hovancsek, Chief Mohr, Chief Stevens, and Miss Heath
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Mrs. Khoury, 930 Worton Park Drive - said she is requesting that Council approve a
plan to modify the barrier on Worton Park Drive. She said the modification could be
made either by cutting the metal barrier or by adding an asphalt path. Mrs. Khoury
said it is impossible for someone in a wheelchair to go around the barrier; they are
restricted to the Worton Park area. In the past it was wheelchair accessible. She
believes the intent (spirit) of ADA is to assist disabled people in participating in the
community.
Mayor Rinker said we will do more homework on this. He explained that this is private
property; it is between two communities. Mayor Rinker said he knows this is not the
first time the request has been made. He will ask Village Law Director Joseph Diemert
to check this out. He does not know the answer to this directly; it may be something as
simple as finding out what legal considerations there are. They will think of a careful
way to come up with a proposal and will be sensitive to the issues in the neighborhood.
Teanne LeI2121a, 960 Worton Park Drive, asked who owns the property where the
barricade is.
Mayor Rinker said he does not know. He believes at least two houses are in Mayfield
Village. He knows Mayfield Heights passed an ordinance stating that they wanted
nothing to affect it. He believes their fear was that it would be opened to traffic.
