183
Mrs. Pierce asked about Caucus.
Regular Council Meeting
6/20/94
Page Twenty-three .
Mr. Diemert said there was no Caucus; this was never discussed in private and Council
never left the room this evening.
(D Mrs. Peirce asked why the numbers were the same.
M
M Mr. Diemert said one is a resolution; the other one is an ordinance.
Q
z Mrs. Peirce said it is unkind that she has to be so specific to know a letter in the file. She
? does not know what they are sending out on what day. They are making her upset
when she asked if she could see the file of the Army Corps. Mrs. Peirce said Mayor
Rinker promised he would look into it when they talked Friday at 7 p.m. about the huge
tank that it would come on Tuesday morning. At 7:30 a.m. they came. Mrs. Peirce said
they are all alone in the woods and they take advantage of them. The big access road
into her beautiful land is right in front of her picture window. She expected that Mr.
Basile, as her Councilman, would have come to her land to see it. Mrs. Peirce said if
they are takulg her land and they are voting for it, she would like them to know what
they are taking.
Mr. Fixler said he went up there three times and took extensive photographs which he
shared with all of Council while they were discussing it last year. He believes Council
has bent over trying to make it as environmentally pleasant as possible. They are very
sensitive to how they feel. They are working with an engineer who is sensitive. The
engineer has spent hour upon hour to come up with something that would be more eye
pleasing to the residents affected. Each member of Council knows what they are voting
on. Mr. Fixler said he does not want Mrs. Peirce to make it seem like they have just
looked at this project and said they will do it and that is the end of it. That has not been
the case. He wants the record to reflect that. They have spent hours trying to come up
with something that would be more aesthetic pleasing.
Mrs. Cinco said they were quite excited to find a plan that would not devastate the area
and leave as much green as possible.
Mayor Rinker said they have expended many hours and money and have risked several
hundred thousand dollars that had been promised to us by a grant. T'his is something
that is to benefit an entire park system. It will serve quite a number of needs. They are
constrained to construct it where they are constructing it. They have spent a lot of time
and money looking for options. Council is concerned about a timetable that keeps
growing shorter and shorter for the dollars that we have available. They agreed to
expend additional time and money with an engineer to modify those plans. They have
