249
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETIlVG OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
September 26,1994
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, September 26,1994,
at eight fifteen p.m. (8:15 p.m.) in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall. Council
co President Joanne Cinco presided.
M ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler,
? and Mr. Flynn
Absent: Mr. Basile
z Also Present: Mayor IZinker, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello and
C C Miss Heath
Before Mrs. Cinco opened the meeting, M[r. Brett explained to the auclience that the
Village applied for Issue II funding last year for the Worton Park sewer project and was
unsuccessful in getting the funding. Mr. Brett said the Village will apply again this year
and explained the structure of the application. If Council agrees to increase the Village's
contribution rate (over the amount it is required to put in of six percent) to ten percent,
Mr. Brett explained how this would impact each residence (by alleviating a portion of
the burden) and he explained why it could also increase the Village's chances of getting
the grant. He asked if anyone had any questions.
A member of the audience asked if it was mentioned about Progressive's tax duplicate
(that they are giving to the Village) being applied to the Worton Park area because of its
close proximity.
Mr. Brett said that was stated in a letter from Worton Park residents. He explained that
if the Village would increase the contribution rate, it would be coming out of the
General Fund. A large portion of the Village's revenue comes from taxes.
Mrs. Cinco called the meeting to order at 8:15 p.m. and opened the floor for questions
from Council and members of the audience.
Mayor Rinker said he believed the questions should come from Council about the
proposal of a total ten percent contribution. In a nutshell, if we ante up the pot, we have
a better chance of getting something back from our investment.
Mrs. Cinco said Council needs to be aware that by the Village putting in ten percent,
they can look to the same kind of donation to other areas of the Village as they are
mandated for septics. She asked Mr. Brett if the exact scenario they are going with has
been finalized.
