Organizational Meeting
1/4/93
Page Nine
Chief Mohr said Mr. Flynn had asked if there were any demo trucks available. Chief
Mohr said Lt. Neyman contacted him on December 31 and told him that the
representative from Emergency One just advised him a truck came off line December
30. Chief Mohr said he met with the representative from Emergency One today. The
fruck they had originally talked about cost $450,000; this demo truck wiIl come in
around $390,000. If we put this txuck out for bid, based upon our specifications, our
truck would come in around $425,000. There is a substantial savings if we go this route.
This truck has things we can live with and work with. We can make alterations on
several aspects that we feel are important for us. This is a ladder truck and it fits in our
fire station. Since the last meeting, we have contacted other manufacturers. They
cannot fit the bill. Chief Mohr said he feels Emergency One is the company we would
want to deal with. It is similar to the one shown in the slide presentation. One of the
differences in this truck is in the cab, it will look like our Pumper 611. It is an all
aluminum truck and it meets the Federal axle weight requirements whereas the others
do not.
Mr. Ferrante asked what other differences there were between this and the truck shown
in the slide presentation.
Chief Mohr said one of the differences is in the hose lines we fight fires with. Our
specifications call for four hoses; this truck will have two. We can add two lines.
Mr. Rinker mentioned the payment schedule; the prior schedule included the option of
amortization.
Chief Mohr said payments can be amortized for this truck also. We would receive this
truck in 90 days versus 180 days (from this manufacturer). If we were to bid this truck,
receipt would be in 180 days from Emergency One,14 months from Pierce, and 13
months from LTT.
Discussion was held regarding the payment.
Mr. Fixler said he realizes time is of the essence, however, one of the things we talked
about before was working something out with Gates Mills and Progressive Insurance.
This is not allowing us to do that. Mr. Fixler said he would like to firm up a deal with
them before we make this commitment. Also, amortized over the years this financial
deal would be structured, it does not appear we are saving that much at all. He thinks
we should find out what commitment we have with Progressive Insurance before we
malce a commitment of $450,000, As long as it is not hurting the Village, he would like
to wait a little bit and see what happens.
Mr. Ferrante said he agrees.
