Consider the following:
• By purchasing this demonstrator we can achieve our goal of obtaining a vehicle that
we want without having to compromise our objectives.
• We can save potentially $60,000 now, versus bidding this truck out and paying more
due to price increases, bid and performance bonds and engineering costs. Mr.
Petrone stated; "Approximately $500,000 will cover what you want for the Pierce."
The Emergency One will cost $390,000. If you recall, we requested $450,000 for this
project.
• Financial options are still available to us such as a lease purchase with no money
down the first year and 5 equal payments for the next 5 years.
Delivery would be in 90 days versus one year to fifteen months depending upon the
manufacturer. This truck is already built it came off the assembly line December 30,
1992. Modifications would be made to this truck to conform to our requirements. A
new E-One truck, if bid today would be delivered 180 days later. It would take
fourteen to sixteen months to build a ladder truck if it was manufactured by another
company.
?,? • The Emergency One will allow us to place future equipment on this truck without
fear of overloading the braking system. The demonstration ladder truck that was
here during October 1992, was 8000 pounds underweight and that included a full
water tank.
I realize this is a major topic to consider on such short notice, however I feel you should
be made aware of the potential for saving a substantial amount of money and obtaining
a vehicle that would serve the needs of our community for many years to come.
Time is of the essence. This truck is owned by the parent company and this truck is
scheduled to be sold to a dealership in Louisiana this week. If you feel it would be in
Mayfield Village's interest to purchase this ladder truck, we need a commitment tonight
to reserve this apparatus.
Sincerely,
David R. Mohr
