(Rough Draft) MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />Mayfield Village <br />February 1st,1993 <br />The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, February 1st,1993, <br />at eight o'clock p.m. (8 p.m.) in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall. Council <br />President Bruce Rinker presided. <br />120LL CALL: I'resent: Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler, Mr. Flynn, <br />and Mr. Rinker <br />Absent: Mr. Basile <br />Also Present : Mayor Pietrafese, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Brett, Mr. Diemert, <br />Lt. Neyman, Chief Stevens, and Miss Heath <br />Mr. Rinker said that Chief Mohr's father had a kidney transplant this morning. His <br />surgery was in Columbus; Chief Mohr was unable to attend the meeting this evening. <br />Mr. Rinker said the purpose of this meeting is to discuss a matter of personnel. He said <br />he thinks they all know what that reason is and he has understood from Mayor <br />Pietrafese that he would like to address everyone. <br />Mayor Pietrafese said he would like to make a statement (which he read). He said the <br />vicious attack made upon him and some members of this Council in yesterday's Plain <br />Dealer was uncalled for. He said the media rarely takes the time to find out aciual <br />facts. He said the Plain Dealer has obviously decided to adopt the format of a scandal <br />sheet. Mayor Pietrafese thanked his supporters on Council as well as his friends for <br />their help through this difficult time. He said if there is anything he could wish this <br />Council, other than good luck and good health, it would be success in dealing with the <br />media. Mayor Pietrafese addressed Mr. Rinker, gave him a letter, and said he now <br />tenders his letter of resignation and requests that Mr. Rinker read it aloud. He said if <br />everyone would excuse him, he would like to go home to his family who he fears he has <br />not spent enough time with during this past year as Mayor. <br />Mr. Rinker read the letter to the Council of Mayfield Village from Blase Piefrafese dated <br />February 1st,1993: "It is my desire to tender my resignation as Mayor of Mayfield <br />`lillage. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Mayor over the past year, <br />and to participate in the many strides we have made. I served our community to the <br />best of my ability, and it is my intention to provide for a smooth transition. I will be <br />available for any assistance deemed necessary.'° <br />Mr. Rinker said Council will take a five minute recess at this time. <br />There being no objections, Council recessed at 8:02 p.m.
