Oppmann ' • <br />Vice President Dear Mayor Rinker: <br />Fred Rzepka Cleveland Metroparks is pleased to learn that the Districi One Public Works Inte ratin <br />Vice President 9 9 <br />Committee has extended an offer of financial assistance to Mayfield Village for the <br />executive Upper 40 Drainage Improvement Project. Cleveland Metroparks supports the acceptance by <br />Director-Secretary <br />rthe Village so that this long-awaited project may proceed. Vern J. Hartenburg , <br />Cleveland Metroparks is committed to facilitate the project by mak'ing available required <br />rights of entry (or easements) necessary to accompfish the portions of the project on Park <br />District lands. These agreements would be extended at no cost to the Village. <br />, Cleveland Metroparks staff .is. prepared to recommend tv the Board of Park Commissioners <br />that Cleveland Metroparks undertake substantial repairs to re-establish an all purpose trail <br />corridor over the route of the damaged. roadway. To that end, staff will recommend that <br />Cleveland Metroparks finance restoration of the road surface to a twelve-foot-wide paved <br />trail, restoration of the road ditches eroded by the flooding, repair to the culvert system <br />outlet channel, clean up of debris and siltation which has accumulated in the wetland area <br />at the base of the Upper 40 hill, and any amenities necessary to open the trail corridor to <br />hiking and biking traffic. Staff will recommend that this work be included as a part of the <br />drainage improvement project to ensure complete coordination of all work and timely <br />completion. <br />Cleveland Metroparks looks forward to contir,uinb the cooperaticn establ:shsd bettirtecn thv <br />Village and the Park District.to resolve this long-standing problem. <br />Yours truly, - ' <br />? . <br />Vern J.
