Regular Council Meeting <br />5/17/93 <br />Page Eight <br />Mrs. I.eppla said Gus gave them the word the playground will be completed Memorial <br />Day weekend. The Park plans for the area adjacent to the playground are being looked <br />at. Thanks to Gus and Steve Hovancselc for getting them the map. The Recreation <br />Board would be willing to donate some Recreation money to this project and will be <br />happy to discuss the cost with Council when the figures come forth. The Recreation <br />Board agreed to contribute any monies from the Pancake Breakfast to refurbish the <br />Community Room. Mrs. Leppla will present the Scholarship Award, on behalf of the <br />Recreation Board, on June 1st. The Race will be held the third week in July. <br />Mayor Rinker said concerning the area adjacent to the playground behind the Historical <br />Society and the pavilion and bocce court. We have encountered a major flooding <br />problem there. We have gotten estimates in the past of $100,000 to control flooding <br />permanently. At the last Recreation Board meeting he attended, one of the members <br />(Dennis Cardarelli) had suggested there might be a way to effectively build up the area <br />along the bank. Mayor Rinker said it appears we may be able to spend a few thousand <br />dollars to improve the landscaping in the area. <br />Mr. Fixler asked when the playground would be completed. <br />Mr. Amendola said Memorial Day. <br />Recreation Silver Anniversarv Committee - Mrs. Mikula said they are proceeding along <br />finding more information. They will be meeting at the beginning of june. <br />Water District Committee - Mrs. Cinco said they met this month with Mayor Rinker and <br />the Village Engineer. They have been meeting with various areas of the Village to <br />discuss the problems and obtain prices (especially with Worton Park, Thornapple and <br />LTpper 40.) Nothing has been finalized at this point. <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Flugan said they talked about '50s Night. It will be. held <br />June 12; the rain date to be the 13th. Mrs. Flugan gave an update regarding '50s Night <br />(menus, activities, etc.) She questioned if the sewer access that will be located in the <br />parking lot at Yours Truly could be starteci on the 14th of June (after '50 Night.) <br />Mayor Rinker said we do not have a timetable on this yet. <br />Mr. Hovancsek will be meeting with the Sewer District this week and will give Mayor <br />Rinker an update on the status after that meeting. <br />Mrs. Cinco said they do not plan to store any equipment there; it is beyond the parking <br />lot.
