MINU'I'ES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
MAYFIELD VILLAGE
JUNE 21,1993
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Regular Session on Monday, June 21,1993, at
8:05 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall. Council President Joanne Cinco
presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler,
Mr. Flynn, and Mrs. Leppla
Absent: None
Also Present Were: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Brett, Mr. Diemert,
Mr. Lou Hovancsek, Mr. Steve Hovancsek, Lt. Porter,
Chief Stevens, and Miss Heath
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
Mrs. Deacon, 6194 Norman Lane - said she is here tonight because of her neighbor,
Walter Curtiss. Her husband is here along with her neighbor, Mrs. Radky, who lives
behind Mr. Curtiss. Mrs. Deacon said she understands something has been done about
this property. The weeds in his back yard are about as high as she is. The house is
falling apart, there are dead animals in the garage. She has photographs with her that
she took last year; this year it is twice as bad. Mrs. Deacon said she understands Mr.
Curtiss has been served 5 violations and it will be taken to Court. She would like to
know what will happen in the meantime. Is there anything that can be done about the
weeds? She has seen a rat. Last year Mrs. Radky had rats in her back yard from his
yard and the Health Department was out. Mrs. Deacon said it is really bad and she
would like to know what can be done; how long do they have to wait before something
can be done with his yard and the surroundings.
Mayor Rinker said Vince Feudo, the Village Prosecutor, has this. Mr. Curtiss will have
to answer to all the charges in Municipal Court. Mayor Rinl<er said he knows Mr.
Curtiss' yard is a mess but we have done everything we can do short of going in and
hauling things away. He thinks there may have been times when we have taken some
material from his yard--and asked Mr. Amendola if that was correct.
Mr. Amendola said yes; they hesitated about going in now for fear of interfering with
the working of the law at this time.
