Regular Council Meeting
7/19/93
Page Twelve
Mr. Basile said the Village landscape architect made a few suggestions. He thought
they should get a landscape architect to design their landscaping for them.
Mayor Rinlcer said Mr. Kostelec was pretty specific that he wanted it sprucecl up a bit.
I'lanning and Zoning passed it with that contingency that there would be further seal of
approval from Planning and Zoning. Mayor Rinker said any approval tonight would
be contingent likewise.
Mr. Fixler said the set back is a little bit different of a request than Dazzlers. The area is
wide open; the landscaping can be adjusted to accommodate the sign. In this situation,
there is no adjacent property or building that would impair the vision of this sign. He
is not sure a set back change would be called for in this situation and is not sure why we
would have to give a variance in this type of siiuation. Mr. Fixler said 30' versus 20'; it
appears driving by here that it would not make any difference visually to anyone
traveling along the street.
Mayor Rinker asked the representatives from D.O. Summers if they vvant to recapitulate
with everyone here the reasons they are asking for the sign location where it is.
A representative from D.O. Summers said the trees and development that will be on the
two sides--if they set it back to 30' is going to block quite a bit of the sign.
Mr. Ferrante said he would like to see how the landscaping will affect the height of the
sign.
A representative from D.O. Summers said they are not going to change the trees along
the gully.
Discussion was held about whether the landscaping will have any bearing on the
location of the sign.
A representative from D.O. Summers said they would like to get this project going; he
cannot see the 10' holding up a whole project. If it is a big issue, they will drop that
variance request.
Mr. Flynn asked about the sign on the building--does it have any neon in it.
A representative from D.O. Summers said it was submitted as neon but it will not be lit
at night.
Discussion was held about the sign on the building.
