Regular Council Meeting
8/16/93 . . Page Ten '
Mr. Chokel said he agrees. Half the problem is probably bettered by this plan.
Many residents in the audience voiced agreement that it was a nightmare (trying to get
out of Worton Park).
Mayor Rinker said no one will dispute that. He asked that we let 1Vgr. Hovancsek
address this since he is a little more familiar with some of the .facts.
Mr. Hovancsek said the reason a light has not been placed there is because the spacing
is just too close to the light at Alpha Drive. I
Mayor Rinker said if Mr. Hovancsek has had a chance to look at any reports or figures
to date, he would like to be enlightened and he thinks everyone would--as to what
specifics we lcnow, what questions we still have.
Mr. Hovancsek said there has not been any data submitted by the Traffic Consultant for
Progressive on the possibilities of a light there. Regarding the entire concept, the plan
itself calls for adding some additaonal lanes on the south side of the street starting with
the taper west of Worton Park and ending up going into the drive of Progressive.
Instead on one lane into Progressive, there will be 2lanes into Progressive.
Mr. Chokel pointed out•the area Mr. Hovancsek described on the map.
Mr. Hovancsek continued to explain that there will also be an additional lane that will
go to the east onto the "on ramp" to I-271. There is a widening of a lane there in the
Progressive drive. One of the problems with the presentation, is we want to know a
breakdown of the preliminary cost estimate of the work that will be done in Mayfield
Village and Highland Heights on Wilson Mills Road and on the dedicated portion (a
small portion) and the undedicated (or private portion) of the Progressive drive.
Mr. Chokel said they just received that information today. We first received an estimate
for the plan of one million one. We got it down to $687,000. We gave it to Steve and he
worked it some more and in total we are down to $556,000. That is if the contracts get
awarded at.the expected prices and if they go within budget. Of the cost of $556,000
(the latest estimate we have for the total) $94,400 is strictly in Highland Heights;
$191,200 is strictly in Mayfield Village; $230,900 is Progressive's front end of the drive
which is a dedicated road in Mayfield Village; and $39,000 of the total $556,000 is totally
Progressive's. Our part is less than 10% of the total and we have been offering to pay
25% of the total.
