Mr. Hovancsek said the other issue is the possibility of getting some State funding for
some of the cost of the road. It is his understanding there is no funding available for
private property. Since we have the cost breakdown we are at the point we can start
talking to the State and the County.
Mayor Rinker said the meeting he had with Mayor Swanson occurred dose to the time
that Allen Bradley announced they were moving out. When Wilson Mills was torn up
before, there was a coalition of a lot of businesses.in tfiat area that did a lot to facilitate
traffic flow. It was pretty successful and we are exploring the idea of maybe bringing it
back. My understanding from Mayor S?wanson, at least at that time, was that she did
not see much feasibility in pursuing this any further (especially with things so much up
in the air.) . '
Mr. Hovancsek said Highland Heights was also waiting for the input (the dollar
figures) we are getting tonight from Mr. Chokel. He believes within the next week to 10
ciays you will receive some response from Highland Heights.
Mr.'Chokel said the other element of new information is that we have sent a letter to the
traffic. The longer it takes, the more the traffic will be; each month there will be
another couple hundred more cars.
Mayor Rinker said he talked to Mr. Chokel today. Even before I went on vacation I was
County Engineer's Office to put them on notice that there is an issue they think the
County should support and help fix. He said he has been told that it will probably take
3 or 4 months once this is approved to do it and that the bid process might take another
30 to 60 days. Potentially, this could take 5-7 months. If it is done through the winter, I
am told that it extends further out. So, if we approve this tonight we would not have it
done until late spring. If all goes well, they will not break ground until after the winter
in which case we will have a lot of people moving in and the congestion will start to
form right at the fime #he construction is done. The only good news is that our move-in
date is staggered for the next year and a half. The sooner this gets done, the less the
made aware that you were trying to get together some figures. Council cannot act on
this and I don't think we can give any kind of green light other than we want to study it.
I was reluctant to present any information a couple of weeks ago because the initial
input I had from Steve Hovancsek said that the figures were totally out of kilter.
Tonight, it looks like we at least have something foundational to discuss. We will need
a lot of information. He is thinking about some type of committee because we must get
feedback on this. He does not see we can make any kind of commitment tonight.
