Regular Council Meeting
8/16/93
Page Eighteen
Mr. Chokel said when we first filed for our corporate headquarters here, we paid
money to have a traffic study done. They counted cars. Then, we paid a new firm more
money to do it again. The second firm supported and documented that there are many
more cars. Immediately, within a week of receiving information on the second study,
we sent a copy of the study to the Chief of Police and the Mayor saying here's the new
study. We would not have funded iwo separate studies over a period if we thought we
new how many cars 4 years ago there would be today.
Mrs. Cinco asked if we could take some of these things up at the home owner's meeting.
A resident said you are mentioning Phase I and Phase II, do you already have a plan for
Phase II? Can I hear that?
Mr. Chokel said we do not have detailed plans for Phase II because O.D.O.T. said they
have the dual-dual lanes going in and that those lanes will go in over the next 18
months and that part of what might be designed is contingent upon them being there.
You must give 20 year projections when you cieal with O.D.O.T.
Bill Haney - Aintree Park - said we did have the traffic light put up at Raleigh Drive
which has been a help even though it is only on for about 5 seconds. Looking at this
map, he sees the widening of the road helping Progressive. He does not see a single
thing helping the people of Worton Park. At the last meeting he attended here, the
Police Department was turned down for a request for three items for $17,000 because of
lack of funds. So, how can we afford $100,000 for something like this?
Mrs. Leppla said she thinks the frustration felt tonight by a lot of the residents is that
they have some great ideas and we can involve the residents for input here on in on
how to solve this traffic problem.
Mr. Chokel said he believes Progressive would be delighted if a light were there. We
need your assistance to get it designed, engineered and through the regulatory bodies
to make it happen.
Mrs. Cinco suggested Mrs. Leppla get her committee planned.
First Reading of Ordinance 93-38, entitled; "An ordinance approving the editing and
indusion of certain ordinances as parts of the various component codes of the Codified
Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio and declaring an emergency."
Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Ferrante, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council
requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
