Special Council Meeting
12/6/93
Page Two
Mayor Rinker said this is what Council talked about before. Funding for these projects
could not be done through a private entity; they have to be done through a public entity
such as ourselves. We have to be the vehicle, conduit, for the money. Progressive is
going to pay this money. They have already committed to it. We will be reimbursed for
the $33,000 from Progressive. He asked Mr. Maier had any points to address.
Mr. Howard Maier, Director of N O A C A- said this study is a very unique and
forward-looking activity. It is the first in the area where we are looking at a
combination of techniques to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. In addition to
taking a look at access onto Wilson Mills and potential changes with Wilson Mills and
I-271, they are also working with employers in the area to find techniques which could
reduce traffic volume and congestion: Mr. Maier said N.O.A.C.A. is very pleased to be
working on the study, and he is confident it will be good for the area when it is finished.
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to authorize the expenditure of
$33,000 to N.O.A.C.A. for the Wilson Mills Road Corridor Study.
1
?
ItOLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
Liquor Permit
Mrs. Cinco asked Mr. Diemert to explain about the liquor permit.
Mr. Diemert said it is just to change the name from Fox Drug to Revco.
