Regular: Council Meeting ;
1/29%96 Page 14
Mr. Samac said this is for the adoption of the 1996 National Electrical Code. It will
apply to all residential installation. The State has adopted it; it will become effective
February 1st for anything other than a three-family dwelling.
Council President Fixler asked the power required (for new construction) coming
into a new residential home.
Mr. Samac said minimum 100 amp.
Council President Fixler asked if it should be 120. He asked if Mr. Samac feels 100 is
ample (especially with pools going in, etc.)

Mr. Samac said 100 is the minimum. Most of the service going in is around 200
amps. The bottom line is that C.E.I. will only supply based on need (regardless of
what size you may install in your house.) You could put a 400 amp panel in and
they would give you 200 amp service based on the size of the load.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted

First Reading of Ordinance No. 96-02, "An emergency ordinance amending Chapter
1383 relevant to the Ohio Basic Building Code."
