Regular Council Meeting
2/19/96
Page 2
Distinguished Budget Award - Mr. Ron Brooks, Budget Director of Summit
County, presented Mayor Rinker and Finance Director Brett with the Distinguished
Budget Award. Mr. Brooks said this award represents our community meeting the
highest standard of government budgeting techniques and the expertise of our staff.
Activities Committee - Mayor Rinker said the Appreciation Dinner was very well
attended; we had over 100 there. Mayor Rinker said he looks forward to the
upcoming activities.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said the Board met February 8. They
considered an application for a sign and an application for a new house in Worton
Park.
Board of A1212eals - Mr. Samac said the Board met February 13. They considered a
variance for a sign to be erected on Beta Drive (which was turned down.) They also
considereel a variance for a new house on Village Circle. Because of the lot, a
variance was needed for the garage doors to face the street. This variance was
approved:
Council President Fixler asked about the setback of the homes in Village Trails. Mr.
Fixler said it appears to him that some of the homes must have received an awfully
large variance on the roadway setback. Some of them appear to he closer than what
he anticipated--especially down the hill.
Mr. Samac said the ones at the bottom of the hill meet setback requirements. He
believes two variances were granted on setbacks; one for the former Mayor's home
and the other for the proposed house thaf never was built. Mr. Samac said he is not
aware of any others that received variances.
Council President Fixler asked Mr. Samac to check it.
Cemetery - Dr. Parker said the Cemetery Committee approved funds in the amount
of $240 for fertilization by Classic Lawn Care.
Citizen's Advisorv Board - Mrs. Cinco said the Board met last Monday with Dr.
Simons and Mr. O'Brien. Another meeting is scheduled for next Monday evening
(February 26) at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Room.
