ix 'r:.lC..,t,,tt tas;;:s4L ap.r,Efi??ti <br />Regular Council Meeting . <br />2/19/96 <br />Page 3 <br />Commission on Aging - Mr. Busa said the Commission on Aging hosted its annual <br />Employee thank-you luncheon last Thursday. Attendance was good (approximately <br />30-35 persons), and everyone who attended seemed to enjoy the meal and the <br />occasion. A trip has been scheduled for Wednesday, Apri124 which will include <br />Gund Arena (a guided, behind-the-scenes tour), Western Reserve Historical Society, <br />and lunch at Hornblowers. We are participating in the distribution of tickets for <br />Mayfield High School's senior dance March 2 and the dress rehearsal performance <br />of Carousel March 14. <br />Safety and Service - Mrs. Cinco said the Committee met February 5. They had <br />further discussion on the mobile units for the Police Department. Formal and <br />informal bids went out for various items for the new fire station. <br />Finance Committee - Mr. Marquardt said the Committee met this evening and <br />discussed the following: <br />1) Service Director's proposal for fertilizing various areas of the Village -$4,240.00. <br />. This item was . referred to the Safety and Service Committee for further discussion. <br />2) Scanner.and battery charger_for the Police Department - Snap On Tools -$3,190.00. <br />This issue was put on hold pending additional information. <br />3) Sale of $3 million. dollars in bonds for the payment of the costs of constructing <br />the Fire Station. The Finance Committee recommends passage. <br />4) Discussion of 1996 Budget. The Finance Committee recommends this be <br />discussed during the March 4 Caucus. <br />5) Pending resolutions and ordinances appointing various directors and setting <br />compensation. The Committee recommends passage of those ordinances as they <br />stand--some have been revised. <br />6) Hospitalization proposal. Mr. Marquardt said he understands Larry Barrett is in <br />the audience to discuss this. <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Dr. Parker reported on the meeting of February 17 <br />which Mrs. Cinco and Mr: Marquardt and he attended. There are three meeting <br />planned for 1996. There were two speakers at the meeting. The first speaker was <br />Cuyahoga County Auditor Tim McCormack. He discussed the proposed changes in <br />the County government structure. There will be major changes in the way County <br />government will be run. Mr. McCormack indicafed this would be the time to make <br />any suggestions. There is a hand-out for that which will be included with the <br />minutes. (Copies will be included in Council's packets on Friday.) Mr. Weingart <br />discussed the history of the SAFE incident which is what brought about the changes <br />in the County government structure. Included in his discussion was how the <br />? County was able to make back the funds that were lost. Both representatives
